A bigger stadium, what are the options?

The only one I can think of is Juventus. They moved into The Stadio Delle Alpi in 1990 and hated into The Juventus Stadium in 2011.

I think they were ground sharing the Delli Alpi with Torino though.

I've heard it's planned to be on top of the east stand. Possibly moving the away fans (not me being sarcastic there lol) as well as family stand.

They're looking at doing the works, not just a stand on top like Cardiff. Executive boxes all the way round it, the lot.

I've not read any posts prior to posting this so not sure if I'm repeating or contradicting anything others have said. I'm just repeating what I've been told.

They're trying to figure out when's best to start the work. Word is Autumn 2016. Not sure why that's more convenient than the summer though

Where did you hear this? Is the demand there for more than double the amount of executive boxes.

I'm not going to name names but it's been told to me by someone who's knows someone within the club

(That old chestnut I know)

I've been told twice now by two separate people thAt it's going ahead.

There's demand for executive boxes, and they could charge less of an eye-watering price, if there were more.

The cost is vast.....the price rise when going up to Prem was ridiculous!

We are moving to KP Thailand, the ticket prices will be dirt cheap, its the travelling that will be expensive.

Pukka pies advertising will need to be cut....

Hope not though, looks poor IMO.

Doesn't look like it would add that many seats either. I'd prefer us to do what Leeds did and just build one massive three-tiered stand. Then we could always just close the top tier if necessary.

These got chucked about on Twitter a while back, I think they expanded the Family stand and the East stand but you get the idea:

We can't verify the authenticity of the images, but our understanding was an increase to 42k, equated to adding to both the Family & East Stand, like the visuals the expansion doesn't double the height of each stand, but adds approx. 5k to each side (won't be an exact split)

If you put yourself in the owners shoes you'd keep the capacity as it is at the current time. As others have mentioned although demand is there now there are no guarantees that in several years it will remain the same unless the team continues to exceed expectations on a consistent basis which for a club and city of our size is unsustainable.

Given the level of investment required to expand, along with the limited potential for return, and a relatively high level of risk.

Also from a supply and demand perspective as demand outstrips supply the value that people place on the product increases so purely in terms of improving revenue and risk management, rightly or wrongly a ticket price rise would make more sense.

That picture you are referring to is Cardiff......

Wouldn't surprise me that they are planning to incorporate the executive boxes as this would explain why they are planning to extend the family stand and the east stand in 1 development as then the executive boxes can be continuously extended around from the West stand. I think they like the idea of it visually too as these are the 2 stands you are looking at as you approach the stadium, you can see they've had a similar idea with the blue canvas back drops they've put around the family stand and east stands in the summer but didn't bother continuing it around to the kop

Anyone got a photo of the proposed plans for Beaumont lets stadium, I don't believe I've ever seen them?

I'm  note sure any where published but I'd  guess it would've  been very similar if not the same as we have now,

.

It was never a firm proposal as they also had preliminary plans/ideas for one at the back of Glenfield.

That said we were very lucky to get the present site after the Beds Island failure as it had planning permission for the Morris ons supermarket but they were a bit slow and the approval time ran out.

I don't think that Morrison's could've ever been allowed to build at Freeman's Wharf due to an order that only provided the land could be used for sporting activities. Morrison's application was eventually thrown out by the House of Lords.

The stuff I've read on here about the extensions are similar to what I've heard, though I heard they would like to start right at the end of a season so they have the summer to play with.

Interesting. To be fair I have wondered if they are going to start expanding the ground as soon as the season is over. Or if not the actual expansion maybe the preparation for it of some sort.

Was told could be the end of this or next season, one thing I cant find info on is who owns the land that was auctioned near the ground, who ever I ask, no one seems to know.

Is it possible that within the end of the season in May, and to the start of the new season in August that the expansion could be completed by then? Or not?

They actually had planning approval what was thrown out was their attempt at getting it reinstated.

What concerns me most is being priced out due to the demand. I hope we can extend to keep affordable prices. The worst thing the club could do is increase prices by 30-40% instead and price out some of the most loyal fans.
