Even with our record start, this just highlights how incredible a 107 point season is.

Big respect for even achieving such a high tally.

December wasn't as tricky as Enzo predicted, but January might yet be with our expected absentees.

Even if we keep it up, there's the uncertainty of how motivated the squad would be after promotion/title is confirmed :sweating::D

Hopefully Ipswich will keep pushing us all the way then

Maresca strikes me as the sort of manager who simply won't tolerate anyone who takes their foot of the gas, should we get into that position.

I would expect, nay demand, a birching at the very least for complacent squad members.

If the record is on, the boys will 100% not take their feet off the gas. They will want it just as much as we do.

If we do get it, I can't see it getting broken for a very long time. What Reading did was amazing and we should be thankful we are tracking a place to better what they did.

Not relevant this year... but still proves we're awful on Boxing Day.

Considering:

Newcastle - 29 seasons = 55% loss rate

Aston Villa - 29 seasons = 48% loss rate

Us - 17 seasons = 70% loss rate

Everton - 32 Seasons = 31% Loss rate

Middleborough - 15 Seasons = 60% loss rate

West Brom - 13 Seasons = 61% Loss rate

We will!

Someone has to be!

Completely different set of players and staff vs. previous years, so it's irrelevant.

Addendum:

It seems we have lost the 3rd most Boxing Day games in the entire history of the Football League (42). Only behind Newcastle and Burnley!

Hull, in 6th, the last potential promotion position, are closer points-wise to the relegation zone (18 pts) than us (23 pts).

That's crazy!

Taking the season in 7 match batches,  we could afford to have runs as follows:

W 4 D 1 L 2

W 5 D 1 L 1

W 5 D 1 L 1

Seems very possible.

16th March - Leicester v Southampton. Getting promotion by this date would secure the quickest promotion, beating the 7 games remaining that Burnley achieved last season

Unless Ipswich or Soton fall away a bit, I think this may end up being tricky.

We are on 62 points after 25 games

W20 D2 L3.

Reading record year 62 points

W19 D5 L1.

So we need 45 points as shown elsewhere on here.

2.15pts per game

Our current win rate is 80%

So if we can maintain that we will win 16.8 games so 16 wins = 48 points

Which means in 4 less games than played so far we can lose 5 and still have 110 points.

The games during afcon will probably be season defining. Maintain our current progress and we have every chance to win the league and surpass 106 points.

Be a good game to do it on though.

Would need to be 25 points clear of 3rd after this game to ensure that. I think that will be Ipswich.

The Ipswich slide has started, poor December by their standards, no Hirst for 4 weeks and Morsy off to the AFCON so plenty of opportunity to open that gap up

Morsy isn't going.

Saw him listed in one of those "players buggering off on a jolly in January" lists. I can't believe something on the internet would be inaccurate.

I think you’ll find it happens occasionally.
