Manwell Pablo Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Teams are going to be much more aware of how we play this time around so I doubt it will be as easy to pick up as many points. Now you see, I disagree with this, everyone knows exactly how we play, they just don't seem to be able to do anything about it tactically. Wenger has been the only who's come up with a game plan to thwart the we way we play, we aren't going to adjust this and are going to get another shoeing at the Emirates if you ask me but that's a game we can afford to lose no matter what our season end goal is. Jose knew exactly what to expect, has some of the best players in the world as his disposal, and set his shop up accordingly and still lost (hence they "betrayed" comments) My worry is us, we've been hiding behind the "we just want to get to 40 points" line all season, and that is going to happen very soon (within a week if Liverpool are anywhere near as dire as they were at The Vic on Sunday) It's concerning what is going to happen once what they can actually achieve this season is spelled out to them, will be hard to continue the one game at a time mentality as long as the season goes on and we remain in with a chance finishing in the top four or very unlikely still in with a shout of winning it.
The Doctor Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 What is raneri99s problem? If you can't dare to dream here, what do you get out of football, since it's clearly not enjoyment.
weller54 Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 What is raneri99s problem? If you can't dare to dream here, what do you get out of football, since it's clearly not enjoyment. Bah Humbug!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 ranieri99 is just realistic, we'll do well to finish Top 6, we're riding a wave and will start to lose, happens to all clubs punching above their weight. I think some people really aren't grasping exactly how good the position we are in is. If we win 7, lose 7, and draw 7 of our the 21 games we have left, (I.e the run of form ends immediately at Liverpool on Boxing day and we run pure mid table form till end of season) we will have more than enough points to finish sixth the way some of the chasing pack are shipping results, we could probably get away with winning sixth losing eight and still getting it. To put that into context we've lost two in the last 27 odd league games, one to at the time Champions Chelsea one to Arsenal. I mean as most well tell you on here I'm probably one of the realistic borderline pessimistic people on here but there is a real chance we could finish in the top 4, is not a guarantee but it can be done. We are not winning by fluke we have some genuinely good players who are on form.
Great Boos Up Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 If we were top four come the last game, the FA would play 3 matches of extra time.

ARM1968 Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 It's innour hands. Win enough games we win the title. No need to over complicate things. Why not. Just keep winning and the trophy is ours. Of course it's ridiculous, but being bottom last Christmas and top 12 months later is just as ridiculous. Long may the stupidity continue.
Littletoe Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 This really is just laughable I'm afraid and embarrassing. If it was Southampton or crystal palace in our position you would say they have absolutely no chance of winning the title. You join the forum recently and you're trying to laugh at anybody who wants to dream of winning the title? All the OP was doing, was pointing out and asking of possible routes to achieving certain things. Please **** off with your negative attitude, twat.
weller54 Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Missed Everton home mate. So 82 points and first! Whoops!!! Wow.. Yes CHAMPIONS then!!
stripeyfox Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I'm allowing myself to dream. People are reluctant to because they don't want to "tempt fate" (bollocks) or fear having their words rammed down their throat when it all goes tits up (possible, but lets worry about that if/as/when it happens)
Monk Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Would love it if we beat Liverpool and Claudio comes out and says our new target is to win the league. Would he?
AKCJ Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 This really is just laughable I'm afraid and embarrassing. If it was Southampton or crystal palace in our position you would say they have absolutely no chance of winning the title. Personally think it's laughable that anyone can say that a team 5 points clear on the 21st of December has "no chance". Would love it if we beat Liverpool and Claudio comes out and says our new target is to win the league. Would he? I'm going to go with 50 points. Which is sensible. When we hit 50, go for 60 points. When we hit 60, go for 70...
fox766 Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Its written in the stars like vardy braking the scoring record against man utd. Raniari will win us the league at chelsea.
WesMorganGod Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 The biggest things that cant hault us in injuries, thats what I am worried about, if something happened to both Vardy and Mahrez then we would be in big trouble and it will become a struggle to score. if they are fit for every game then who knows anything could happen.. I would certainly say we will finish in the top 4 champions leagues places.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Personally think it's laughable that anyone can say that a team 5 points clear on the 21st of December has "no chance". I'm going to go with 50 points. Which is sensible. When we hit 50, go for 60 points. When we hit 60, go for 70... I personally think he will target 60 points when we've got the 40.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Would love it if we beat Liverpool and Claudio comes out and says our new target is to win the league. Would he? No he wouldn't I can see him putting 60pts as the next target
shen Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I would think Claudio will target Europa League qualification. With our form and 10 points ahead of Watford in 6th it would be a realistic and achievable target. My guess is the players will believe they can achieve the Champions League, but Claudio will never declare this as a goal.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 We're not going to win the title, anyone who has convinced themselves otherwise is getting caught up in the moment. but we will never have a better chance of qualifying for the CL!
kyleolly Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I can't see how he can set a target of finishing 5 places below our current position?
shen Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 We're not going to win the title, anyone who has convinced themselves otherwise is getting caught up in the moment. but we will never have a better chance of qualifying for the CL! By the same logic, will we ever have a better chance of winning the league? This squad isn't young any more and is currently peaking. We cannot expect this level of performance beyond next season. But everyone can see it's a special team, with limitations admittedly, but also extremely focused on playing to its strengths.
RobHawk Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I've just considered the possibility of us continuing our run and winning the next 2 games and tonight's game being a draw! Should these 3 results come to fruition we would be on 44 points, half way through the season and at least 8 points clear of Man City and at least 4 clear of Arsenal! Just try and imagine that! #rinced I just posted this in another thread! But if you think we can't win the league, then you need to dare to dream! Don't get me wrong, it will be tough, probably a lot tougher than the first half of the season, but we have a chance and as Claudio keeps saying - we can dream!
shen Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 I can't see how he can set a target of finishing 5 places below our current position? We've been setting a target of finishing with 40 points for months now, despite this requiring an unprecented meltdown. Basically we'd have to get a points deduction or be declared automatic losers for our remaining games for us not to reach that target.
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 By the same logic, will we ever have a better chance of winning the league? This squad isn't young any more and is currently peaking. We cannot expect this level of performance beyond next season. But everyone can see it's a special team, with limitations admittedly, but also extremely focused on playing to its strengths. Winning the league will require more consistency than we can deliver I think. Still it makes great entertainment while we are keeping up with the pace setters the longer it goes on the better.
Adster Posted 21 December 2015 Posted 21 December 2015 Teams are going to be much more aware of how we play this time around so I doubt it will be as easy to pick up as many points. I don't buy this. If teams don't know how we're going to play before they play us the managers are not doing their jobs properly.
