Gerard Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 I'd rest anyone who isn't 100% personally, including Vardy and Mahrez. If Vardy & Mahrez are capable of playing they need to play. This is a season defining game for us and our team looks like a team that should finish 14th without them. We'll have no more than a puncher's chance without them.
weller54 Posted 29 December 2015 Author Posted 29 December 2015 Sorry to say it but we'll lose this one I think.. We looked very tired against Liverpool and can't see a few days rest changing that.. I'm going 1-4! .... But hope I'm completely wrong.
catfordfox Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 This is a season defining game for us it really isn't. We can lose a couple of games against the title contenders and still be in with a chance of top 4. This is exactly the kind of pressure we shouldn't be putting on the players atm.
Fox42 Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 I dreamt we lost 0-1, I'll just put that out there...
TrentFox Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 I'm going to take Ranieri's advice and just enjoy the football. This season has been incredible for us, why ruin it by worrying about winning or finishing in the top four...how ridiculous would that have sounded at the beginning of the year. If we drop away then we'll still have surpassed all expectations. It'll show the owners that with a little bit of the right investment that we can really go far. So let's sit back, relax, watch the boys play their exciting attacking football with a proud smile on our faces, irrespective of the result! This ought be printed on the back of everyone's clapper tonight. The only people talking of CL or titles are fans. Raising rhe bar could easily translate into moans and groans when we get beaten at Liverpool or against a team that spends more each season than we have in our total history! (Slight exaggeration). Those moans and groans reach the players and add pressure. Every game is a 'freebie' for me - we can go out and just go for it. Won't get relegated. Anything else is a bonus. We just don't need the supporters to invent pressure that just isn't actually there. Disclaimer. I may not take my own advice come this afternoon and the butterflies start to set in... Why did it come out formatted like that ? Apologies

This is exactly the kind of pressure we shouldn't be putting on the players atm. I have to disagree, we were very lacklustre against Liverpool. Lose again tonight and it just looks like we're crumbling like everyone said we eventually would and the pressure to beat Bournemouth gets more intense. I want us to be first place or within spitting distance of it in January as any signings we try to make in the window looks at us as a club that's going places. Lose tonight a draw on Saturday and our title ambitions have gone up in smoke in a week and we're hanging on for dear life for a top four spot.

Aug 2013 - everyone in a rage that Drinkwater and Vardy are in the team to play Middlesbrough away Dec 2015 - desperate for them both to play so we can go top of the Prem again Surely things like this should be an indicator that you can't make sweeping statements about players no matter how sure you think you are, because things can always change... agree with both posts.

Lose tonight a draw on Saturday and our title ambitions have gone up in smoke in a week and we're hanging on for dear life for a top four spot. I find it odd that some people say we're in with a chance of the title but that in one game we could be scrapping desperately to keep hold of the top four. To compete for 1st place you have to be an extremely good team, even in what looks like a weaker league, if you think we might be a team of that quality you probably shouldn't be too concerned about not finishing in the top four. I personally find it very difficult to imagine us winning the league. It's too big a jump to make in one season, finishing 4th would be an unprecedented leap forward on its own. With that in mind, losing to Man City needn't be season defining. Losing badly would be concerning, however.
simon789us Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 Tonight is a bonus game anything from it would be good Bournemouth game is more important let's face it we don't have the squad to be challenging for the title but top 4 is on if we can keep this form up add a bit of quality in jan then who knows

Winning the title has always been a bit of a pipe dream but the longer we hang around the more realistic it becomes. I've never expected us to win the league but I've thought about it, it would be a massive blow if we lost three games on the trot or just took a point and our hopes have been well and truly extinguished in a week and all so soon since we were briefly 5pts clear at the top after the Everton match only 10 days a go. I'm pessimistic at the moment because of how poor we were against Liverpool. We looked very tired and Vardy looked off the pace. Lose again tonight and it looks like we've shot our bolt. If we can finish top four this season then that could catapult us to the big time with the quality if signings we could make on the strength of it. We'll never have a better opportunity with Chelsea failing like they have, Man Utd looking terrible and Liverpool being hit and miss. I bet teams like Everton, Stoke, etc are kicking themselves for not taking full advantage of this season like we have.
leicesterseddon Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 Anyone know anymore if Vardy and Drinkwater are available for this one? I heard Drinkwater is likely to be available but unsure about Vards. Not really. Lots of people saying things - but to my knowledge CR hasn't said anything definitive. He said yesterday that he "thought" Vardy would shake off his illness, and Drinkwater "could be fit". Basically the manager isn't going to reveal his hand before the game (why would he?), so we'll only know this evening.
Jordan Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 If Drinkwater is fit, but only just fit enough to start, I have a sneaky feeling we could see our first big "tinker" in a while. DD for Vardy to make it a 4-5-1 (or rather 4-4-1-1) with King as CAM, and try to keep Man City at bay for a while, and switch to 4-4-2 if we need a goal? I'd rather us go with our typical 4-4-2 and try to grab the first goal, because (if our players are fit to run) we can get Man City on the counterattack, but if we're feeling the effects of a packed fixtures list, perhaps Ranieri will set us up to be more cautious with a game we ought to win coming on Saturday.

st albans fox Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 No rachel today, Weller? She let us down for a third time on Saturday. At what point does a 'lucky charm' thread become a 'haven for perverts'?

ARM1968 Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 It always was. But then we've been perverting the course of the pundits all season.
simon789us Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 Man city going to have a lot of the ball just need to keep it tight and do what we do best on the counter I'm sure we will get chances just hope we take them
dedlock Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 We may need to stiffen MF.Man C seem to play 4-5-1 away.
Guest Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 We may need to stiffen MF.Man C seem to play 4-5-1 away. I refer you to my post earlier
LCCFox96 Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 Reckon Claudio will shuffle the pack a little bit up top tonight especially as we looked poor and fatigued going forward vs Liverpool: Schmeichel Simpson Huth Morgan Fuchs Dyer Kante Drinkwater Albrighton Mahrez Ulloa I think freshening things up a little bit will do us some good today. We need to get back to our usual energetic and pacey selfs to be a big threat going forward. Can see us needing to score at least 2, maybe 3 to win tonight so we need to be clinical going forward and retain possession better in the midfield. Better distribution from the back wouldn't go amiss either. Whoever starts in Vardy's advanced forward role - should he be injured - needs to have their shooting boots on. I'd go with our 3 best crossers of the ball from midfield, in Dyer, Albrighton and Mahrez, to hit Ulloa and give Mahrez a freer role in and around the striker. However, tbd Man City don't travel well so this is a more open game than people think.
Fox92 Posted 29 December 2015 Posted 29 December 2015 Good grief imagine if we start with Ulloa. We will literally be playing into their hands. We really need Vardy to be fit. He will run at them, run in behind them, close them down....
