Stevosevic Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 CR isn't that type of manager though I imagine he would of sat down with Mahrez and discussed this with him. He isn't a controlling dictating type of manager. Every manager is that type of manager. Penalty kicks are defining moments of games, as we've seen, so no manager will sit back letting someone continue with a poor record in order not to hurt his feelings. It's no different to dropping a player to them.
NewEnglandFox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 I recall Leo taking 2, Nuge taking 2, and Mahrez 1. I may be missing a couple. We've had a lot more penalties this year than last and it's only January. The wikipedia page for the seasons has the pens. Nuge 1/2. Leo 2/2.
Swiper Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 The wikipedia page for the seasons has the pens. Nuge 1/2. Leo 2/2. Hm. I could have sworn that Mahrez took one near the end of the season.
Countryfox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 I think most people want Fuchs but CR will let JV take them. I'm ok with that (as long as he doesn't miss 2 in a row) as it will help his goal tally/motivation/golden boot chances and give him a reward for getting most of the pens in the first place.
KP Fox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 The wikipedia page for the seasons has the pens. Nuge 1/2. Leo 2/2. Which one did Nugent miss?
ScouseFox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 well yeah it's the manager's decision ultimately. "i talked to him" and the way he said "take a break" shows how he handled it though. most on here seem to think he should have or would have liked to have strolled into training first thing this morning gathered everyone round and almost humiliated mahrez by calling him shit. there was obviously a simple one on one discussion and they have concluded (quite rightly) that in the future someone better at penalties takes our penalties. be interesting to see what happens if we get one and vardy isn't on the pitch though. i'd wager mahrez would take it.
NewEnglandFox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 Which one did Nugent miss? West Ham at home in April.
Stevosevic Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 The wikipedia page for the seasons has the pens. Nuge 1/2. Leo 2/2. Leo has taken the best penalties since Gallagher. Picked a spot, hit it with conviction and even though the keeper has gone the correct way both times, they haven't stood a chance.
Swiper Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 Has anyone already seen Fuchs take one in a game or is it just from the video with Inler? Transfermarkt says Fuchs scored 1 in 2003 against 1. Landesliga Niederösterreich. Inler scored one against San Marino a few months ago but he's rarely on the pitch. I think it's more based on the fact that he's a good FK taker and hits it with power. I had never seen that video until just a few minutes ago and honestly, Inler's penalties looked better than Fuchs'. He's just not in the side enough.
Fox92 Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 We had 4 penalties last season. That it? Can't even remember... Manchester United twice (h) and West Ham (h)... When was the other one? edit: Think I've got it. Newcastle (h) ??
Countryfox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 K R A M A R I C. Paid all that money for a penalty taker. Now it makes sense.
LCCFox96 Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 Ulloa is one of the best penalty takers but isn't going to be on the pitch every time in order to take it as Claudio seems to like swapping Ulloa and Okazaki depending on the opposition. Fuchs on penalties would be interesting.

fuchsntf Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 My son can take penalties..Hes shown me the papers !!!! No sorry, its his penalty points, trying to run around radar traps.
KP Fox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 I also have every confidence in Drinky taking them.
Gerard Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 Mitrovic just missed 2 pens for Newcastle and stuck his third effort away. I don't think it's that he missed against Villa, it's the way he took it, even if it went in you'd think bloody hell, that was a poor pen, he didn't do his trademark stutter and just put in a nothing pen, so maybe would be best to take him off, at least, the next one. Get him back in form then give them to him again. It was a bad a penalty as you will see at this level. Just a nothing penalty with no power or placement. If he'd hit the woodwork that took the GK out of the equation then I could forgive that but there was zero conviction in that penalty at all. I love Mahrez but it's right someone else takes them.
AKCJ Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 I want Mahrez to take them as long as he has a bit of conviction in them. Lets be honest, when he's confident (Sunderland at home) he can put them where he likes.

Countryfox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 I also have every confidence in Drinky taking them. Whoooooooa ! Let's not get carried away here !

Lets be honest, when he's confident (Sunderland at home) he can put them where he likes. He ain't confident and probably won't be for a while...... He really really needs a rest from pens. If he misses the next there will be uproar and his confidence then will be shot to pieces. Give the lad a break.
FireFox Posted 18 January 2016 Posted 18 January 2016 Simpson...Well you could say that the mother of his child should have been 'a keeper'. And he knows how to beat her.
