Concourse Redesign - Ideas Needed

Recommended Posts

In one corner of the ground within the concourse area, there are pictures of the likes of Hughes, Kenton, Porter, Stearman...no idea why

Rip them down and get some proper legends up there

No ecstasy without agony bro, gotta have reminders of when times were hard to keep us motivated now we are lavish.

I have suggested it before, but fell on deaf ears, there must be a way of putting in metal rails for the food and drink, so people don't just queue from the tills, all the way to the toilets in a straight line, making virtually impossible to get about, and maybe queue in a snake affect.

It is an absolute nightmare for the older fans, and fans with poor mobility like myself.

There is no organisation from anybody at the club, in safety on the concourse, limited stewards, who just stay pinned to the outer edges of the concourse, due to the disorganisation down there.

That one's not going up in the family stand then...

Possibly not. We can have it in around SK1 though.

I'd also quite like to see a picture of Duncan Ferguson throttling Steffen Freund...and possibly a picture of the scenes as the players emerged at the Wembley play-off games to a sea of blue and white balloons and ticker tape.

Would love some pics of legends of the club with stats next to it, suggestions:

Arthur Rowley 303 games: 251 Goals

Arthur Chandler 393 games: 259 games

Maybe pictures of our top ten players for goals and appearances.

Gordon Banks holding the World Cup

At the end of this season Andy King with his collection of League 1, Championship and Premier League winners medals.

More pictures to make the area more colorful would be good, I also like the idea of more ledges to rest your pint on.  As has also been mentioned a better queuing system for the kiosks would be good.  It is much more efficient to have one queue to feed into several service points - it can be proved that this minimizes waiting time.  Simplest method is just to rope off the queuing lane just like the Post Office do.  This also has the advantage of clearly separating the queue from people just standing around.

What would be the point of heating the concourses? With the turnstiles and the entrances to the stands there would be a constant draught and you would barely feel it at all. Would also be a massive expenditure on energy, most of which would be wasted as the heat would escape.

Metal rails or any sort of roping system for queues are not allowed on concourses for health and safety issues in case of need for emergency evacuation

What is allowed tho but I don't think would be much use is putting tape on the floor to designate areas

Don't know how good the idea is but could there be some sort of token system to be able to collect beers at half time from a designated area

Hand token over instantly get beer in exchange having no money exchanges must speed things up

As for the TVs not sure how it could be solved but the location of them in the west means that if a crowd are around it you struggle to move once you get though the turnstiles

Pictures would be brilliant anything to brighten up the insides will do for me, again don't how good the idea is but could we have player themed areas around the kiosks

A nice friendly banner in the away section saying something like 'Welcome to Leicester' with a picture of a toothless Iwan Roberts.

Pretty sure the away section already get a welcome message albeit without a picture of a toothless Iwan Roberts

Off topic but could we get Wasyl to greet the away fans in their concourse? As in the actual Wasyl not a picture, would mean half would runoff home and then we don't have to listen to the 'I want to go home' chant again as they already would have gone.

And literate kiosk staff would be grand.

I know the title is "re-design" but Free and easy access WIFI for fans would be useful. The Nou Camp has it in all zones of the stadium so why can't we.

I'm not one to surf the tinternet during matches but pre match and half times would be useful as the 4G coverage is poor when under the roof of the stadium

Thanks for asking though, look forward to the results.

Great shout this.

I imagine things like heaters and the current restriction of wi-fi to exec box holders and certain other ticket holders in the west stand is used, in part, as an additional selling point for those higher ticket prices.

For that reason alone I wouldn't hold my breath in them being extended across the entire ground.

The issue for me is that the concourse areas are too small for the volume of people who use them. Even if queuing was fixed most areas of the ground would still be rammed at half time.

I'm not a fan of vending machines but perhaps a few would alleviate some of the issue.

I've said it many times on here but I don't think the club cater for enough variety.

At half time they could easily have some food carts down by pitch side to cater for some. Capacity there is almost unlimited and would allow some variety. Not everyone needs to head down to the concourse. Get some brands in there - Cornish pasty company, pukka pies, Costa, a hot dog stand etc.
