001merp Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I know I'm gonna get some stick for this but whatever. I often see people on here having a go about 'plastic fans' - people that don't go to games often for whatever reason and talkabout them as if they are not truly fans of the club. Reading through the Arsenal away tickets thread I've seen people saying that clubs should start charging more for games in order to 'keep the plastics out'. As somebody that could be considered to be a 'plastic fan', I just want to offer the other side to this argument and hopefully break the stereotype of 'plastics' only being here because we're in the Premiership and playing 'big' clubs. I used to be a Man United fan. Sorry. It was my dad's doing as he supported them too. When I was about 12 or 13 I decided that I wasn't really a United fan as I'm not from Manchester and won't get to go see them play. Therefore, being from Leicestershire I decided I would support LCFC as they are my local team. This was the season we went down to League 1, so I've been a fan for a while and not just because we're in the Premiership. Being young and not having a Leicester supporting family, I didn't get a season ticket, but still went when my uncle got me a ticket and have been going to games since. Since then my love for the club has grown and I've become incredibly passionate about this team. I can remember sitting crying next to the radio when Kermogant missed that penalty against Cardiff in the play offs. I can remember when Man City in the 3rd round of the FA Cup seemed like a massive game. I have loads of memories of City. Now that I'm older it would be expected that I stop being a 'plastic'. However, I'm a student and so struggle financially and practically to get to games seeing as I no longer live in Leicestershire. I do, however, listen along to every game on foxes player. When I'm at home and have some spare money, I use my membership to get to games. I have been to Sunderland and Tottenham in the league and West Ham in the cup and am coming back midweek to go to the Tottenham replay. I endeavour to buy a season ticket when I have a full-time job, regardless of whether we're in the Premiership or League 2. Please don't stereotype everyone that doesn't go to games regularly as plastic as some of us have legitimate reasons. I accept that some people just go for the big teams, but there are some of us that genuinely love this club and just struggle to afford tickets and travel. I think I'm done ranting. Sorry for the essay. Word on my dad, I've managed to convert him from United to Leicester. He saw the light. Looking forward to seeing all the die hard 'non-plastics' on Wednesday night
David Hankey Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Every Club in the Premier League have so-called fans that have never been to their stadium and Leicester is no different. I know many who are United fans who don't know where Old Trafford is let alone seeing a game there!!

Yeah I get that, but I think the term gets thrown around too easily and some people on here see anyone without a ST as 'plastic' and not a real fan, which is not the case.
Corky Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I'm just glad we're doing so well that glory hunters and plastics are spoken of in relation to us. It's a long way from standing on cold terraces and open ends at Colchester, Blackpool and Luton watching us miserably limp to, at best, a draw. If you support the club in the way you do just be happy with it. Everyone is different.
SystonFox Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 If you didn't go Carlisle or Yeovil away you're a plastic. If you sang "if you're watching on the telly you're a c#nt" then you're a die hard fan. [/tongeincheek] Seriously lad well played. You sound like a young guy and it isn't easy to get to games, I'm 29 now. Had a season ticket when I was aged 18-24 so I went through the real shitty years believe me! Used to go most aways too. I since changed jobs and couldn't do every Saturday now so didn't want to spend £400 to go every other game or run the risk of it. I get to a few home games per season nowadays as its expensive now buying match by match and I have a young son. I still post here as much, listen on the radio as much, watch on tv as much and keep up to date as much as possible. Nobody is a bigger or better fan than me no matter how many games you go or Mahrez printed away shirts you buy. Everyone will probably feel like this. Keep up supporting the side however you can. Good on yer
CharlieCharles Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 If you dont want to go Yeovil away on a tuesday night in the cold, dont expect to get first dibs on away tickets. If you dont buy a season ticket, dont expect to get first dibs on home games Even membership would of worked for home games so no excuses for people to moan really. Bury Away, Spurs Away and Spurs home were all perfect opportunities for all to go. but it seems majority are not bothered unless we are playing someone big in the prem. EDIT: not a rant at the people who have work commitments or maybe cannot afford it, its to the ones that choose not to go and only want to see us play big teams.
Guest Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Everyone welcome. Let the club grow and expand as we go from strength to strength on the field. 'Where were you when we were sh*t' is wearing a bit thin isn't it. I've been guilty of it a bit in the past but there's no superiority, everyone is Leicester. Welcome them to the fold and hope they stay. Eventually people will realise we are in fact a 'big club' and stop being so patronising.

Good on yer Cheers mate. 20 year old student in Worcestershire makes it difficult to go to games (£20 just for a train ticket home). This isn't about me though, I just used my story as an example. I'm sure there are many more like it. I just don't like that people are made to feel that they are inferior or not able to be a 'proper fan' if for whatever reasons they can't go. Kinda opened the post to try and make us as a club more inclusive of everyone... If 'plastics' son't feel welcome then there may be another reason they don't go to games often.
Beliall Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I could be considered a plastic too, haven't been to see a game since i was 14, at filbert street. I did make a pilgrimage to the king power though, when i was in Leicester for a funeral recently
potter3 Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I'm just sad that I had a season ticket in the Levein days, but barely get to go down in the past few years
ronnup Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Get somekids and move away. Care less? Not sure about that. ****ing repetitive childish discussion.
Nuneatonfox in Manchester Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 People who weren't arsed about how we did in league 1 and the lower mid table championship era, don't deserve the glory. The happiest I've ever been after a city game was Sheffield United at home when Hume got a brace and Elvis f***ing Hammond slotted to make it 4-2, that result meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. The rarity of that winning feeling in the Levein days, made it all the more sweeter. "Plastics" could never comprehend that feeling.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I can remember sitting crying next to the radio when Kermogant missed that penalty against Cardiff in the play offs.
fuchsntf Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Plastics..!!!! Buffoons, imbeciles, misgogs.. Any fan, I mean any, including the prawn sandwich brigade, WELCOME, and thankyou for deciding to spend your money at the KP. I cant. I am a titanium-fan, living in the pampas in the middle of rural Germany, with a tito knee and hip. 60 years a fan, of anything Leicester, stood sat, in the cold rain, lived the heartaches at Filbert street travelled far and wide, to follow that blue train, just hoping for an high. THEN being an eggchaser, and on tours, playing on Saturdays, but any sign of cancellation, dashing out of the clubhouse, or cutting the travelling short to rush to the foxes venue of the day.Taking first crushes, or serous girlfriends, to see my boys, at Filbo, and yes Welford road. Living/travelling/trekking the worlds hedgerows, deserts, mountains, with the main thought of the day..... 'I wonder what the score is'.Telling new found friends, and strange natives, that the Fox and Tiger, are great friends to have.Telling the loves of my life, thats why I am powerfull, and clever, growling with a wink of the eye. When knowing a short trip to my hometown/or even nomansland , will need a research of the fixture list, hoping to get a game in. My kids only have visited, never lived in Foxes/Tiger territory, but especially my son know where their loyalties lie. We follow BVB also with the same vigour, but maybe not quite as fanatical. Plastic or titanium, goodweather types they still follow The Leicester, and if you look at foxesforum there are many a far flung foxes, scattered around the globe, happily encouraging new recruits. Who from S.Am, to Corners of Asia and Africa, Do know of the so called smaller clubs.Ive passed foxes and Tiger shirts on.Plus many sports photo post cards, onto one telivision denholes lost in the middle of nowhere.

richardsfoxes Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 There was nothing plastic about those titties that's for sure.
Buzzell Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I miss your bouncing boobs Buzzer b So do I pal. Mark has banned them from FT.
Bayfox Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Nah you lost me at "I used to be" Get a divorce yes let's. Can't change your club.
LegendOfJoe Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 student in Oxford and I can't get to any games either. My dads a massive tigers fan and chooses them over city any day of the week. Only being 19 and having to fund it myself really limits my opportunities. Ive been to two games this season both being in London and i couldn't eat for a week because of how much it costs me. label me a plastic fan because i cant attend many games, but how any of you at the age of 15 (mother wasn't happy) have come down on your own on the train to watch city?
GaelicFox Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 Can't believe how arrogant people are about "plastic fans" ! The subjective appraisal of a person "fan-ness" is the most anal bullcrap I have ever come across ! If you want to follow a small club , Forest , Derby or Corby town will welcome "natural material fans" all day Long !

Charl91 Posted 15 January 2016 Posted 15 January 2016 I like how defensive people get over being thought of as 'plastic' . Who cares what other people think, does it stop your enjoyment of the game? I only go to a few games a season. Plastic and proud!
