Koke Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Can you imagine Wes Morgan lifting the Premier League trophy after we win it on the last day of the season at Stamford Bridge? And Ranieri gets a rousing applause from the Chelsea fans cos he's a proper gentleman.
Finnegan Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 If we qualify for the champions league I'm going to do laps of Frog Island in my pants. I'll be ****ing delirious.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 In some respects finishing 3rd would be easier to stomach than a close 2nd.
GaelicFox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 If we qualify for the champions league I'm going to do laps of Frog Island in my pants. I'll be ****ing delirious. What brand of pants ? And briefs or boxers ?
ktfox59 Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Here we are top of the league - three points clear of Arsenal and even with a marginally better goals difference and some are talking about finishing third. For pleasure's sake what's up with you all. Let's live the dream and think about winning something. Not second, not third but raising the trophy and then declaring our intention to retain it.Why so damned half-hearted? yes I get your points, but stems are dreams, reality is that half a dozen seasons ago fans were pottering around towns like Milton Keynes and Peterborough hoping to get results to get us out of league 1. Now we are disappointed if we finish 3rd in the premier? . Wow our expectations have changed a bit.
LJS Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I'd take it right now 100%!!! Thing is I don't really want Europa League. I know i'll get slated for that but money isn't great, it wouldn't attract layers better than we have and playing every forth Thursday night in Russia and the like would destroy our season, I believe. Champions League on the other hand...!!! I think we'll be playing Champion's League football next season but I'd still be delighted with Europa League. I don't care about the money; it's not as though I'll be seeing any of it. And I think it will take more than a single CL qualification to attract a significantly higher quality of player than we can already. Plenty want to join almost any Premier League club already because of the money and I'm more than happy with our current method of finding players. Of course I'd prefer playing Barca/Real/Bayern, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at Sevilla/Gladbach/Roma either.
Fatty Arbuckle Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 On the day of the Sunderland game last May, I was still convinced we wouldn't stay up even though any rational person looking from the outside would have said it was nailed on. It's because its my team involved, I find it hard to believe that things can actually be that good. And its the same this year; if it was any other team at the top of the league I'd be saying top 4 is nailed on and looking good for the title. As it is I can't bring myself to think that we might just do it. So to answer the question I'd be ecstatic if we finish 3rd...a place in the champions league proper is something I never ever thought I would see.
AYLESBURY FOX 1961 Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 well i will be disappointed - only because I cant see us not finishing top !
AyewJoking Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 yes we should be grateful for having an unbelievable season. theres still a long way to go and anything can happen. however we are the best team in this league so far so it isnt crazy to expect to win it or at least qualify for the champions league.
seenitall Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Only three years ago I was getting a ripping on here (delusions of grandeur no less) for suggesting we should expect to be a top ten club - now we just might be (are already?) and it's no longer delusions of grandeur to believe in the title -Nige would be furious with you all.........

By all means criticise the team (and boy, do you ever), but for asking an interesting question to see where people are at, I still get a telling off. Believe you me, I am dreaming of winning the thing, but asking about a possibility that sees us in the CL seems a fairly reasonable thing to ask.
Guest Bilo Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 We've been in the top 3 since October, and our lowest position all season was 6th after the defeat to Arsenal, so I'd be bitterly disappointed to finish outside the top 6/7 this season. We have such a spectacular opportunity after the first 23 games and have less games to contend with than any of the teams around us. I've been waiting for 15 years to qualify for Europe as I was too young to go to Vienna or Madrid and enjoy it, so the qualification for either the CL or EL would make me over the moon.
Alf Bentley Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I think in terms of "stick or twist", as in playing cards. Even 2 months ago, if someone had offered me a guaranteed Europa League spot, I'd have said "stick". If they offered me that now I'd definitely twist. We're 10 points ahead of 5th place and none of the teams that are 5th to 10th look likely to put a great run together. What if I was offered guaranteed 3rd place? I'd be delighted with 3rd place, but I'd twist. Although I still cannot believe that it will happen, there IS a chance that we could win the league - possibly the only chance we'll ever have, unless wealth distribution in football changes drastically. We've got to give it a real go. We've a good team/squad capable of getting a lot of points from our remaining matches. We're top of the league. There is currently no team that has played better than us consistently or consistently got better results. Also, our rivals are fighting on multiple fronts (Europe, FA Cup etc.) My head says that we're likely to finish 3rd or 4th (itself an extraordinary achievement). But my head also says that we DO have a chance of winning the title. If we go into every match believing that we can get a result (including away to Man City and Arsenal), then we might just do it......an unbelievable situation but we need to believe that it CAN happen. There's still an awful lot left to do and there'll be ups and downs , but no reason to think that we can't do it.

Great Boos Up Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Don't post these threads, please don't. Just don't. Forget running round in my pants, I down to my last few pairs already due to soils in the front and the back!

Now we are disappointed if we finish 3rd in the premier? . Wow our expectations have changed a bit. I'm not sure it's expectations as such. Anyone who sits here and says this has been anything other than an amazing season is kidding themselves, but it would be a shame to get so far and not go the full way. Football for me is about winning things and we could be on the verge of one of the most incredible league wins in football history. I'd be happy with any European finish but even now to be this comfortably in a CL place, to only be in the Europa would be a little disappointing from a footballing point of view. I suppose it's like having £250k on who wants to be a millionaire, with two questions left for the full million, with the two remaining questions actually being easier than they usually are.
Dan Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Only three years ago I was getting a ripping on here (delusions of grandeur no less) for suggesting we should expect to be a top ten club - now we just might be (are already?) and it's no longer delusions of grandeur to believe in the title -Nige would be furious with you all......... Without his signings, his backroom team and in-particular his scouting team, we'd have been absolutely nowhere near this. He'd not have us this high, I'm with you on that, but don't forget how much of this team is down to him.
LJS Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I've just looked back at our Championship winning season and we were ten points clear of third with fifteen to go. Were people as nervous of not going up at that stage? My memory is of being pretty comfortable that we'd go up, but that might just be time.
Izzy Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 theres still a long way to go and anything can happen. This bit... All this talk of possibly winning the PL makes me laugh - seeing as we're only just past the halfway stage of the season. People forget, it's a marathon not a sprint.. Yes we've been great and yes we're top, BUT THERE'S STILL FIFTEEN GAMES TO GO.. This is unchartered territory for us and we've no idea how the team will handle the pressure as we get into the business end of the season. We're massively inexperienced at this level and that's why most experts and pundits think we'll fall away. I'd be absolutely thrilled if we finish 4th - even considering we're top now. If we're still top by 3 points with FIVE games to go, I might start to believe. But it's just TOO EARLY for me right now. So much football to be played and so many permiatations ahead. To the dreamers: keep dreaming, but don't be all upset and pissed off if we ONLY finish fourth this season. Just remember who we are and where we've come from. Finishing fourth would still be a fvckin miracle...
ScouseFox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 it would absolutely ruin me if we messed this up and finished as low as third
Corky Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I've just looked back at our Championship winning season and we were ten points clear of third with fifteen to go. Were people as nervous of not going up at that stage? My memory is of being pretty comfortable that we'd go up, but that might just be time. Not sure exactly. Personally I was still a bit wary because it's in my nature and we'd had the fall away the year before but we had a three week spell of four 3 goal wins when the pressure could've been on, other results going for us and we just looked every inch the best team in the division and no-one could catch us.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I would be ecstatic, unless we finish 3rd due to a terrible final day performance which sees us throw away a certain top place finish. I can't believe I'm worrying about that
