st albans fox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Even if we don't win the league we've still dispelled so many myths about this league this season, and that is something to be proud of. I thought Piers Morgan was absolutely spot on when he said that if Leicester win the league it completely quashes any of these excuses top club managers make. I say this to the Spurs and arsenal guys in my office every week. we don't even need to win it. If we finish in the CL places with our squad, what does that say about the quality of the other management structures at all the so called 'big clubs'. I think we have a very scientific/statistical approach to the season now and anyone expecting us to go for it at the Emirates and Ethaad are going to be disappointed. One up with a five man midfield. (Like citeh at home) Both are on TV but then Chelsea never made these top of the table clashes exciting ? Always about not losing.
The Doctor Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Apologies if I have misinterpreted your post but third would hardly be a crumble would it? Would likely mean we've not beaten Man City and/or Arsenal away... Even finishing above Spurs would be an unreal achievement this year. Crumbles perhaps not the right word, but with them having to play each other someone out of the two will still drop points, so even if we lose to both, second is still in our control.
Number 6 Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Winning the league would probably be the peak as a supporter of this club. I don't think anything would match it for the rest of my lifetime. I'd still be absolutely thrilled with top 4 to be honest. Results this weekend has made us look like title contenders though so you never know. Next 3 and last 3 are tough. We have 9 games in the middle of that. I choose that bit specifically because when we needed to last season we won 7 of 9 to stay up. We're capable of getting the required results. Probably need about 33 points for the title. Feels absurd even having this debate. What a season.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 it would absolutely ruin me if we messed this up and finished as low as third lol I never know whether you are being ironic or not?! Top posting. ....
Fox Ulike Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 To be honest if we lost the next 15 games I'd still be ecstatic. Everton got 47 points in the whole of last season and finished 11th.

foxes161 Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Man city still have us, Arsenal, Spurs at home so they could drop points Arsenal still have to go to city and play a lot of away games that aren't easy.

I suppose it would still be "progress" but come on we can do better Yes I’d still be happy to finish 11th. 10th : Very happy 9th: Delighted 8th: elated 7th: thrilled 6th: over-joyed 5th: jubilant 4th: Ecstatic 3rd: Blissful 2nd: Exultant 1st: I’d weep for a month
daddylonglegs Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 I'd b buzzing my tits off. Champions shitting league
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 I'd be ecstatic with third, happy with 4th, and from this stage, overall pleased although a bit disappointed given our position now if we finished 5th or 6th! 1st a dream, 2nd same!
richardsfoxes Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Would be on cloud 9 if we finished in 3rd, still a long way to go though anything can happen, if we come out of the next 3 games with 4 or 5 points, the hype train will have increased in speed dramatically.
yorkie1999 Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Imagine us needing a point on the last day to win the league and Chelsea needing a point for top 4, i think the players would just sit in the centre circle playing cards.
purpleronnie Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Has any team who were top at this stage not finished in the top 4?. Villa being the only team to be top at christmas and not finish in the top 4 at the end of the season (finished 6th). I would be dissapointed not to be in the top 4 at the end of the season. I'd be quite dissapointed to finish 4th because we could then still miss out on the group stages of the CL having led after 23 games. Because let's face it it's unlikely we'll ever have this chance again.
Suffolk exile Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Largely pleased but a part of me would be almost a little disappointed. How mad is that? I'm sure I'm not alone - testimony to this incredible turnabout in the last year.
norwichfox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 I'm enjoying the ride immensely so far, I'd be ecstatic if we made 3rd or even 4th....out of this world (and totally gutted) if we finished 2nd, and just out of my head if we won the premiership.

However, they were in 4th and 5pts clear of 5th as opposed to 1st and 10pts clear of 5th.
FoxFossil Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Lineker - wash those pants, you're gonna need 'em for MOTD.
Guy Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 As other posters have 'admitted to', finishing 3rd would now would still be a very remarkable achievement in itself (especially considering we were where Villa now are a year ago - and only about one win better off than they!) - but as this is likely to be our one and only golden chance to do the unthinkable and win the Premier League - while the likes of Man City and Arsenal continue to get tripped up - then I have relegated a 3rd placed finish to the 'pleased' option! I think most would echo those sentiments if they were being brutally honest!
klrice Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 I think we could be 2nd the end season, that if Arsenals wheels start falling off
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 I would be over the moon, but would love the impossible dream to happen.
HighPeakFox Posted 8 February 2016 Author Posted 8 February 2016 Anyone feeling any different about this now?
adam Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 Is 3rd straight into the champions league group stages?
HighPeakFox Posted 8 February 2016 Author Posted 8 February 2016 Yes, hence choosing that position in the original poll question
4everfox Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 Ecstatic if we win the league. Pleased if we finish 2nd or 3rd. Disappointed if we finish 4th (I want to avoid the qualifiers). Gutted if we finish 5th or below.
