Tuna Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Nah wouldn't have him lads. He's a shit Kermorgant
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 looking at this thread, you'd almost think being at the top of the league has gone to some people's heads
KFS Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 If you wouldn't take Pelle at 5m when Ulloa has been falling over his own feet in recent weeks, go book yourself a doctors appointment
shen Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 As I said yesterday, for me this is a no brainer: - He is a full Italian international. - He has played in European competitions. - He is good in the air and also, has a great shot on him. - By all accounts, a great pro both on and off the field and he plays with passion, like most Italians. For £5m I can't think of many better alternatives; playing for a national icon of his too probably is a draw in Claudio. Gerrrimmmmm! Is throwing your arms around, moping and hands on hips 'passion'? In that case, yes, he's got plenty of it.
Ric Flair Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Is throwing your arms around, moping and hands on hips 'passion'? In that case, yes, he's got plenty of it. Haha not a fan then Shen?
shen Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Haha not a fan then Shen? Nah, I don't think he's a good fit for our team. He's got talent, anyone can see that, but his attitude definitely grates. Besides we're not thinking long-term with this guy. Four strikers all 29 or more?

Besides we're not thinking long-term with this guy. Four strikers all 29 or more? Think it's plain to see that we need a new striking option, ideally for now and the future, if a younger option isn't available then I'm happy to think short term if it means it helps cement a CL spot.
Koke Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Massive upgrade on Ulloa. For £5m we can't go wrong on this. Watching Ulloa against Bournemouth was one of his most pathetic performances.

I can accept this point of view, but I think it's important we get in the right type of player to avoid disrupting the mood in the squad. Is Pellè the right type? I'm not convinced really, but I trust Ranieri and Co. to be fine judges if they go for him.
shen Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Massive upgrade on Ulloa. For £5m we can't go wrong on this. Watching Ulloa against Bournemouth was one of his most pathetic performances. From the bits I've seen on MOTD and live Southampton games this season, Pellè is prone to a stinker too.
LCFC FOX Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 I say no to Pelle if it's going to be the only striker we sign. I'd take him all day long if he's a replacement for Ulloa though
kam6 Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 For £5m, we should get him in, subject to wage demands. ] Remember we were in for him before we got Leo
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 From the bits I've seen on MOTD and live Southampton games this season, Pellè is prone to a stinker too. Also prone to score a 25 yard ripper or an overhead worldy.
VLC86 Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Yes of course think of all the strikers they have signed since Pearson has been here only Vardy has been brilliant, I'm not knocking the scouts just saying strikers could be there weak point Your example of Futaks, Kermorgant and Kramaric isn't the best though is it? Futaks- cost us nothing, low wages and young so was worth it. Kermo a similar story and had a good career at the level. Krama obviously a disappointment but different scenario, fighting for our lives with non of our top picks would come. You can't compare the above to the level of strike we are looking to attract now.

All I'm saying is if we are going to bid nearly 20 mill on a player I would prefer it to be somebody more proven than what we are hearing
Freesolo Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 TBH i don't care if what our new striker costs £500k or £20m as long as he fit into the teams dynamic and suits our style so to say he is a "bargain" dosen't really make sense, we are in the most important period of our clubs history with a chance of UEFA CLF, we need players that can hit the ground running produce and the way that we have been jumping from player to player to find someone in this position does not make me confident, we seem a little desperate. The concept of getting a Bargain for a player in this position is pretty irrelevant i would not mind paying £20m + for a player if he is the right player and works hard if he can score and get us into the champions League
Giggsy77 Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Personally, I dont think Ulloa fits the style of football we play. Therefore, I think it would be the same with Pelle. We attack at speed and Ulloa and Pelle dont suit it. Ulloa ain't a bad player, he scored 10 last year, probably because we were playing a different style.
GaelicFox Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 looking at this thread, you'd almost think being at the top of the league has gone to some people's heads Think Delusion reigns on FT
FoxyLurvin' Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Ulloa is a first class gent, I have met him on a number of occaissions and you couldn't meet a nicer chap! Unfortunately he isn't really performing to the level we expect of him on the pitch albeit he played a great part in the last game vs Stoke. For £5m I would take Pelle in a heartbeat as a secondary target man or loan Ulloa out to gain some confidence and have him back either later or next season. In my opinion Pelle is a better finisher and he was probably our first choice last season before we went for UIloa. I like Ulloa as he has very tidy feet for a 'big' forward and can hold up the ball well (we will need a player, like this for the CL next season - fingers crossed). I would still love to see Musa here as well, now that Eder is not looking likely according to reports from Italy.
shen Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Also prone to score a 25 yard ripper or an overhead worldy. Yet he isn't significantly more prolific than Ulloa in the same space of time. 5 more goals despite having more game time than Ulloa?...

But aren't we asking him to play a very different role to what he was playing last season (and for Brighton)? In the same way you could say Vardy has been transformed by being used as more of a focal point of attacks, has Ulloa suffered because he is no longer the main man? The concern with signing Pelle for me is that I'm not sure how much varience he would give us from Ulloa, in which case does Ulloa then leave - leaving yourself with the similar type of player but an unknown quantity within our current setup. And if we can't get Ulloa firing at the moment, does that not also cast doubt on whether we could do any better with Pelle? At least with Musa, there are comparisons to Vardy, but he'd still give us something a little bit different too - so if you took the £5 million we'd need to pay for Pelle and add it to what we bid for Musa, you've then got CSKA's asking price, that's what I'd be leaning towards.

Precisely my thinking on the situation. Well worded.
