I'm using the wrong terminology. I meant whatever non fuel injected engines are (carburettor fed?) - you can tell I'm not a mechanic, can't you?

Ah :D Yes if they are not direct injection then they would be carburetted.

Naturally aspirated means lack of forced air induction, so no turbo or supercharger.

So in BERY simple terms what's the just with this new unleaded fuel?

My dads old 09 Hinda Jazz(info from Gov website) states_

"All Honda cars with fuel injection are compatible with E10 petrol (HONDA PGM-FI).

All Honda cars that do not use fuel injection should continue to use E5"

WTF does that mean???

I'm looking at you @tom27111

I have a 2006 Honda Civic.  I couldn't get onto the Gov website so went direct to Honda who advised that my old banger and everything after it was E10 compatible.  Some really old Hondas may have to use E5 but I'm happy enough to use E10 now.

A quick Google search brings up varying answers for this.

The AA has advised using the old style super unleaded.

However, others say its OK to run on E10.

From my limited understanding, it seems that E10 will damage things like seals and plastic if you leave it sitting in the tank/engine for a longer period of time, you won't notice a difference in performance.

So judging by that, if you aren't mowing the lawn a lot from now until spring, stick to E5.

E10 is a less stable fuel - not so good for cold starts and possibly less efficient meaning some road users may be filling up more regularly.

You should drain the tank of any vehicle left standing for a prolonged period of time. The fuel can go stale and lose combustibility and the 5% ethanol in E5 can also degrade seals, injectors and floats.

Hondas turbo civic and CRV engines have had oil dilution issues (over here in Canada and i believe in trump swampland) which has stopped me from upgrading.

I have a 09 CRV and 10 civic  which have been fantastic, run perfeftly to this day.  Great cars quality wise although not the sexiest. I wanted to buy a brand new CRV but the oil dilution issue scares me for engine longevity. Honda says they fixed it  i believe via a computer  change but im not buying it. Concerned the engine have a fundamental flaw as fuel should never be mixing with oil to the point your oil smells of fuel and it beyond capacity etc.

I was hoping they would cave and offer the natural aspirated engine in the upcoming new 2023 model or so but ive hear rumours that theybare sticking with the turbo. Boooo. Turbo and honda don't belong in the same sentence lol.

I'm now fully trained in my new job and done my tests to meet industry standards.

The used car market is ridiculous at the minute.

Demand is outstripping the supply.

I'm trying to find cars for a couple of you and it's a struggle (but I'm not giving up)!

Used prices are quite high at the minute.

If anyone is tied in to a PCP deal especially, or even a HP deal and you want to change, but think you might be in negative equity, you could actually get more for your car in a part exchange deal right now.

Especially if your car is under 5 years old and would be suitable for retail at a dealership.

I know people are being offered silly money for cars at the minute, @Izzy will back this up with the offers he's heard about on Jags.

All down to the semi conductor shortage and the lead time on new cars.

"I've just spoken to the boss and he said your really taking any profit we are making on this car at the moment"

Customer comes back with another counter offer..

"Well I really will be pushing my luck with the boss on this one, but I'm here for you guys yo see what I can do"

Goes for a p1ss...

"The boss said we really cant do anything else on this now, but I'll throw in a free air freshener"

Deal done!

"That's great, all I need to add is the non negotiable  admin fee of £299 , MOT for £50,  and we are all set to go, after I try and sell you all the after service insurance packages!!!"

😁😁😁

And don’t forget the guard x paint protection for £400 which costs us £25 :D

Today, when filling up at one of the petrol stations in Syston, an amazing yellow and black Lambo was also filling up next to my humble Peugeot. Back in the day, I'd have lusted after owning such a car as that. But instead, all I could see was its ridiculous design with its upward-opening doors, the lack of space inside, its top speed of probably more than 3 times the maximum legal limit, and the horrendous cost of buying and owning such a vehicle. Add to that the fear of scratching it or having it stolen, plus feeling like a complete tosser being seen driving something like that, and I drove away glad that I didn't own it!

If it didn’t have a private reg I’d wager it was more than likely leased mate - but I agree, horrendously impractical cars to drive on British roads. The 4x4 Lambo’s are lovely though.

A lot of it is like that, but the training where I am now has got us equipped to cut down on that as much as possible.

Hopefully just the 1 trip to the business manager and cut out the pantomime.

Go through the offer properly and identify what objections the customer has and what they're happy with.

The business manager is also more than happy to get involved personally, unlike most dealers.

Service plans, warranties, alloy wheel insurance and Gap insurance all have very good benefits, but I agree on the paint protection, I'd never pay for that. Spot on with the cost price, it's around £27.

Admin fees and having to pay for an MOT are outrageous though.

If a car you're buying needs a service or an MOT, they should be done as part of the preparation process.

There really are some arsehole dealers out there.

No, it's actually expertly applied by a Vehicle Preparation Specialist.

Typically, a Romanian, in Slazenger jogging bottoms, loudly swearing whilst precariously having a roll up hanging out of his mouth lol

Great day at work today. I've missed it.

It's brilliant chatting to people, getting to know them and helping them find a car that suits them for the next few years.

The place where I am now is so more personal and less pushy than a car supermarket where I was before. So much better all round. I was a crap pushy salesman, never comfortable with it.

Amazing to hear how Covid has changed people's driving habits. One guy has gone from doing 40k a year down to about 2k and his quality of life has improved by spending more time at home with his family.

I'm still searching for cars for a couple of you on here, I haven't forgotten. It's just the lack of cars coming on the market. You don't need me to tell you that, I know you're on AutoTrader every day lol

Just another plug, if anyone is looking for something, or knows anyone who is, give me a go, I'll do my best.

If I can't find you anything, at least I've tried and I'm always happy to give buying advice to anyone.

It's a bloody tough market right now

For a car salesman you really do seem a decent bloke😁😁😁

We're in the minority, but we do exist!

I can still be good at my job without being an arsehole.

But thanks, I try my best. Worked in pubs for years, so I can talk to anyone, that's what it's all about.

Tell you what Tom, regardless of how many cars you've sold today, it's just great to see you're now happy with life compared to where you were a few years ago.

Made up for you mate really

Gave up on drive Vauxhall after a used car we were looking at suddenly shot up £3500 over night, when looking at new the salesmen was very good and helpful but used we had to chase up for a price, took 3 days nothing then the hike.

Looking for a family suv. Went and test drove a 2016 kadjar yesterday. Wasn’t impressed to start with, didn’t seem that reactive. Then realised I had eco on lol so the salesman told me to go back out in it and was much better. Dealer said can’t really move on price though as everything is checked against auto trader :( is this right?

If I go for it I’m Im not going to bother with the diamond bright and insurances.

It probably is right, there might be a bit of movement, but it'll be minimal.

Don't touch Diamondbrite. Let me guess, costs £299? Cost price for the dealer is £27.

The other products do have value if they're priced correctly.

As always, please feel free to ask if needed

Thanks, yes £299, speaking to a neighbour and it turns out I know someone who does something similar for about £25, think I’ll then get some guardsman to spray the interior seats at about £13.

It’s the first time I’ve ever bought from a dealer so don’t know what to ask lol always just had cars that have come my way. Is the kadjar a decent car? Once the eco was off seemed to have a decent bit of poke, enough to make the tigers fans cross the road a bit sharper lol
