The trees next to my driveway keep depositing this vile sap onto my car which is near impossible to get off. Tried some sap remover off the net but doesn't really work fully. I read somewhere that white sprit does work but you have to be careful as you can fetch off the paintwork with the sap which isn't something I want to risk. Does anyone have any remedies?

Rang my mate this morning who is a car cleaner and he said car shampoo and very hot water.

Is there anyone who is a seasoned detailer?

The chap I usually use have moved and it’s a faff to get my car to him, so to save some cash I’ve decided to learn how to detail myself, just wondering if there is a particular brand I should be looking at, naturally I want a brand that will be kind to my paint.

@Izzyis your man for this I believe

Thanks Deb, but I wouldn't say I'm 'seasoned'! I'm just a weekend warrior really who got interested in detailing during lockdown :)

@Pliskin, not sure how much you already know about detailing but there's a few people on YouTube I'd recommend you follow if not already..

1. White Details

2. Forensic Detailing

3. AMMO NYC

4. Obsessed Garage

5. Apex Detail

In terms of brands, my favorite is Bilt Hamber but there's other decent one's too including:

1. GTECNIQ

2. Meguiars

3. Auto Finesse

4. Infinity Wax

Best of luck

Awesome, thanks for the pointers. I’d say I’m familiar but that’s probably as far as I would go. I’ll check out the pointers you’ve given me!

Thanks @FoxesDeb for the recommendation!

My mate bought the standard one ..  lovely car and goes like sh1t off a shovel ..  everyone goes on about how quiet electric cars are ..  but I find it a bit unsettling.  One day I’m sure I’ll get one and do my bit for the planet  but I think I’ll have to have a speaker fitted that plays brummm ! brummm ! music .. :)

I think it’s the lack of sound in general that unnerves me about electric cars…. Obviously you look when you cross a road but knowing there’s a NOISY revved up car coming round the corner helps you take notice too..

This, like the quiet e-scooters who suddenly whizz in front of you.

Can be annoying, and dangerous.

Can you change the car on your car insurance policy, but have it change at a specific time in the day? Or is it only possible to have the change come in on the date

Specific time is possible.

Another totally shameless plug...

If anyone is thinking of buying a used motor on finance soon, we will be offering a 0% finance event soon. Probably some time in November.

Hit me up if you've got something in mind. Although I'm failing miserably in finding cars for you guys at the minute. It's an unprecedented market in my defence.

I can but try

Stupid idea. One of the plus points of an EV is to have a nice quiet ride.

So much potential here with different sounds for different drivers. Boy racer - fart can and pops, Sunday driver - a faint choral hymm, middle aged crisis dad - super-charged Ferrari, Buddhist monks - sacred drone and ringing bowls, the list goes on and on..

The used car market is so inflated right now, as most of you will already know and has been spoken about before.

What I witnessed today demonstrates this perfectly and will blow your minds (possibly).

Customer came in, wanted a new shape 2008, ideally nearly new.

We have a 20 plate in stock. 6500 miles on the clock, manual gearbox.

The customer ideally wanted an auto.

Quoted her on the used car we had in stock and a brand new one, exactly the same, only with an automatic gearbox.

It was £65 a month cheaper to buy the brand new car.

There are varying factors, such as interest rates on finance packages for new and used. Plus the guaranteed minimum future value of the vehicles.

The customer looked at me in disbelief. She's happy to wait, so factory ordered a new car, who wouldn't?

not sure she will be still happy in 12 months time when her car still hasn't arrived! i work for a car leasing company and we deliver c5k new vehicles a month and for next year we have dropped that to c2k a month as none of the OEM's have a clue when they will be able to deliver anything new once the current stock runs out. As you say the positive is we are getting c£4k extra for every car we dispose of which is again around c5k a month, you do the maths!

We're actually seeing cars come through in around 3 to 4 months from order date.

Depends what it is though, Peugeot seem to be prioritising the 208 and 2008,  their most popular models. The 3008 is longer, the 5008 is around 6 months. If you want a Traveller, well they aren't pencilled in to be built until at least July!

I have just ordered a lease through a work salary sacrifice scheme, a bloke I work with had to wait 9 months for a Peugeot (can’t remember which model) and I was fearing the same.

However I seem to have got lucky and its due to be built next week and delivered pretty much bang on 3 months after ordering.

Just need the used car market to stay inflated until Christmas when I can sell my current car hopefully for a great price.

Edit to ask,

Has anyone ever sold a car on motorway.co.uk?

Apparently they offer it out to thousands of dealers who bid against each other.

The market is predicted to stay inflated for at least 18 months. If anything, prices are still going up. If you want a valuation, pm me with your reg and mileage and I'll HPI it for you.

I bought my car 2 years ago on HP, it was high mileage, but got an absolute steal. Valued it the other day and I'm £1000 in equity, even though its now done 91k as we just hammer it. It's unreal.

I'm just going to make ANOTHER completely unshameless plug...

On the off chance that anyone,  or anyone you know is after a brand new Peugeot 5008 GT Premium, hit me up.

I've got one you can drive away this week.

They're rarer than rocking horse shit right now. And if you mention Foxestalk, you get extra discount

Ffs man, trying to earn a living here lol

French manufacturers have sorted their shit out lately based on reliability ratings and the amount of repeat customers Peugeot get is just insane.

I'm amazed that they come back every 3 years for a new one and all I hear is "never had a problem".

Kind of changing image a bit too. Look at the old 208, compared to the new one. Nothing alike.

But if you need anything @Strokes let me know. Got about 8000 used motors I can get my hand on.

Yours comes with a free tile that has a hole drilled through the middle lol

Real Foxestalkers will get that :P
