st albans fox Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 What else is he going to say? Doesn't mean he believes it fwiw, I hope we see Roy try him beyond Kane for a period in the next two games. That will encourage the opposition defence to drop deep and allow Kane to get space in between the lines. I don't think we will though - bit too tactical for Roy and if it were to work, gives him a big problem re Rooney when fit.
maddog Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Low spent his press conference praising Vardy and saying if he was a German defender he would be scared of Vardy. Rooney et al. weren't mentioned. If he's not starting up the middle tomorrow Hodgson is a tool.
Matt Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Gonna be contradictory here. I've been moaning for a while saying Woy doesn't play him, doesn't want to play him, doesn't like him, won't play him in his correct position. I'm gonna change that (for this weekend only), I don't want Vardy to play, he needs a rest, he isn't himself, looks like his is either bollocksed (Understandable) or carrying a knock.

Fox92 Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Kane has got to play through the middle. The lad has scored 20+ goals for consecutive seasons now in the top flight, he's obviously our best striker. Which means Vardy will be played wide as Hodgson won't play two up front. Anybody with a bit of pace - Welbeck, Walcott, Vardy, Sterling (when fit) - will be shoved wide.
DB11 Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Play Vardy and Kane up front, let Vardy run the channels and do all the hard work to give Kane space to grab the goals
Matt Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 What if he starts up front and bags a goal? I'll be happy for him. But from a selfish LCFC point of view i'd rather him have a rest. I see a massive flaw in your scenario though, you're suggesting Woy is gonna a) Start him and b) Play him up front. Not gonna happen with that **** in charge. Saying that, we all know Woy is a Tottenham season ticket holder so maybe he will start Vardy to tire him out even more and help his beloved Spurs out?
Rincewind Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Very humble of him but I would have thought as Woy has watched him several times he would know his best position. But it depends on the formation and the way he wants England to play. I cannot see the players adapting to Leicester's style of playing. They would have to play faster than a walking pace and may have to chase after the ball occasionally.
J.Lisemore Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 4-4-2. Vardy and Kane upfront, its a friendly and they are to be experimented with. It won't happen but if Hodgson had a brain he'd give it a try.

Vardy and Kane would be an amazing partnership, they are both very different strikers, it would work so well. no way Hodgson will do 4-4-2 though, but it would be awesome.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 How lovely would it be to start with two upfront.
ThaiFox Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Vardy & Drinky will run and run for England, but I feel sorry for the lads because I'm sure Woy will go for 'Arry, Wooney, Walcott & Welbeck for the Euros, even if Vardy scores another 10 and Drinky supplies them all and wins player of the season. He's only picking them for friendlies because he can play them in unfamiliar positions to 'prove' he is right to pick his favourites. He has no idea of how to use Drinky or Vardy anyway. I bet Vardy will be stuck out on the left wing and Drinky on the right wing. Woy loves 'big' teams, not unfashionable ones, as proven picking anyone from spuds who kicks a ball for 3 minutes. Woy is hopeless and I'd be furious if either gets injured for two pointless friendlies, as plenty seem to when with England.
Guest Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 I'm gonna be club-selfish here, especially since it's only a friendly. Let Vardy rest, maybe come on @ the 80th minute, and leave it at that. The last thing we need is an injury to Vards.
Koke Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 I still find it baffling this time three years ago, they would both be sitting on our bench behind Nugent and Wood in the Championship... They were both subs in that infamous Watford play off semi final. Vardy was an unused sub and Kane replaced Wood after 61 minutes. How quickly things change in 3 years.
J.Lisemore Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Just watching SSN and I completely agree with Tony Cottee's view, the last thing the nation wants to see is Milner and Henderson in CM because we already know what they can do. Give Drinkwater and Alli a run-out.
Larry_LCFC Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Its a tough one but I don't like it when players come out and say they'll play anywhere just to please the manager, especially that idiotic Pigeon face goon. We've all seen how poor Vardy can be when hes played out of position. Very ineffective. Annoys me that Rooney wouldn't stand for it, but the likes of Vardy has to. I know who I'd rather have up front for my country.
crazylegs1984 Posted 25 March 2016 Author Posted 25 March 2016 Vardy is just happy to be playing football for football sake and happy to contribute being a late starter he has to take his chances and play to his best fair play to the lad
Donut Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Is Vardy on the left still a better option than say, Welbeck or Sterling, on form? and could he adapt to the role?
Wymsey Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 As long as he plays in his natural position, then fine.
Donut Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 I do think he will opt for Kane in a central position, and i couldnt argue with that both domestically and when representing England, his strike rate is excellent Vardy will be an important player in the squad though
Phube Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 Surely with Vardy and Kane infront of Alli and Drinky we'd get the amazing relationship between both pairs. I'd just like to see that tried, at least once!
theessexfox Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 I think Welbeck is a better option on the left.
jim5000 Posted 25 March 2016 Posted 25 March 2016 4-4-2 with drinkwater and alli in midfield and kane and vardy up front would be epic. Can't see Roy doing it tho
