red fox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Worst idea ever! Out of town stadiums are sh*te, fosse park is pain to get to for every unless you live in braunie town with no pubs near, our current ground is in the middle of the city and with space to expand so why leave. Also 60K... What?!?! What do you think it will look like in 10 years time when we are not winning the league. What is happening currently is crazy, unprecedented and will probably never happen again. Lets keep our feet on the ground and enjoy the moment.
4everfox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Very bad idea in my opinion. Its only 14 years old, dogs live longer then that. Much better to just expand, the stadium was designed with this in mind. If we eventually increased the capacity of half the stadium to say 48,000 then that would be good enough for the next 100 years in my opinion.
FoxinNotts Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Expand to 42k. That's the logical next step for the KP. Buy the land behind the east stand and put another tier on it. Buy some land for additional car parking. That's where we need to be in the next couple of seasons (maybe even now). At the moment you cannot buy two match tickets together for love nor money. The demand is there. The challenge and risk for the owners, is to maintain the growth. We are obviously ahead of schedule following this seasons exploits.
demon_dog Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 No need to expand, just build a giant wall around the outside of the stadium as a second concourse. Then have giant tv screens hung on the walls showing the game. Members can come in and see the game with the ST holders all being in the ground clacking away !

Yeah because you have to be a member or a season ticket holder to be a Leicester fan, ridiculous.
Vlad the Fox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Does anyone remember the Wheatcroft proposals? Was verging on out of the county. Wasn't it out donnington park way?
Webbo Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 If Chelsea were the only club in London they'd need more than 40k. There's 8 million people in London.
stripeyfox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 There was also a proposal at one stage for RJB (the mining company) to donate land at Asfordby Mine for a new stadium. Which whilst being incredibly convenient for me would have been a bloody awful idea. All joking apart, we are incredibly lucky that the KP Stadium, for all its faults, is located only a hefty Tim Flowers goal kick away from Filbert Street. Fans can use the same pubs as before and the transport links are at least no worse than they were before. Compare that to someone like Bolton who left the historic Burnden Park for the Reebok which is in Horwich, about 6 miles from Bolton. There are plenty of other examples too.
Dan Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 I'm not a huge lover of our ground but I don't have a real issue with the location of it, nor do I think it's at all feasible to build a new one, in-fact it's pretty ridiculous.
Lestoh Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 imagine when we get relegated having twice as many empty seats as full
NewEnglandFox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 The more seats the stadium has, the emptier it looks. Especially when times aren't perfect. Anyone seen Villa Park lately? Have you seen how empty it looks with 25K people in it? Come on. I'd be hesitant on anything over 40k. Especially if it means losing seats during construction.

Perhaps we could ground swap with the Villa.!
LCFC FOX Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Stadium at fosse park? Bloody hell the local pub would be the Toby Carvery!
Jacafox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Stay where we are, the KP is in the best location, not perfect I know but there is room for development in the immediate vicinity, bars restaurants etc. Best area for most of city fans. Fosse Park is ideal for me personally, but it is already a nightmare for traffic. If we continue to challenge for trophies, then yes we will need to expand the stadium, but maybe in a couple of years, which with planning permissions etc that's how long it would take.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 We have improved the King Power every pre season in recent years. Hopefully if we can continue to do that, the stadium itself and surrounding areas will continue to get better. As times goes on I'm hopeful that the ground will start to have more character too. I can understand the new stadium idea, it does show ambition as I previously touched on.
Hollism Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Stadium at fosse park? Bloody hell the local pub would be the Toby Carvery! Expand the Everards brewery and have a bar and beer garden! Or better yet, knock it down and build a new one
SpacedX Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Wasn't it out donnington park way? Yeah, the land was adjacent to the circuit. Would have been in a Derbyshire post code as I recollect. At least Florist fans and the sheep shaggers would've only had a short hop onto this years bandwagon.
holyfox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Sorry if it's been answered already, but had the club bought/agreed to buy the land that was up for sale next to it???
Jace Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 The club looked to move to Fosse Park back in the 90s and the fans protested against it saying they wanted to keep City in the City. The Bede Island plans were and still are in my opinion perfect for the club. Now we are where we are I think the owners should consider a major revamp like Southampton were planning a few years ago, for those of you who are not aware St Marys Stadium and King Power Stadium were both built based on the same blueprint and structurally are almost identical. Around 40000 should be the planned capacity increase
Collymore Posted 6 April 2016 Author Posted 6 April 2016 Well I think my idea as had a generally positive response...
Raw Dykes Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Building a new stadium is a crazy idea. It'd be like buying a brand new car because you've got a puncture on one tyre. We just want an extra tier of around 10,000 seats. If there are problems with the foundation/structure which is holding us back like someone mentioned, then the best solution would be just sort that out first if possible, or if not, demolish the East stand and replace it with a new stand with a bigger capacity.
Jace Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Well I think my idea as had a generally positive response... Thankfully not everyone took it too seriously
sylofox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Loads of land around great yarmouth sure they could pick up some cheap.
Rusko187 Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 I would prefer to invest in squad, there were stories of people giving up their season tickets after last season. If we expanded stadium at this point I honestly feel we would struggle to fill.
