A recent interview with a Russian sports correspondant on Monday Night Callin sugessted the player would fit into our team pattern and indeed was keen to sign, in fact the only thing to be finalised was the fee pay structure, as usual we seem to struggle to get deals over the line. From the rumours i have been reading there are 3 players ( Musa Deeney Mendy) who have made it clear they want to move here yet we still seem to struggle finalising deals (i know its not July yet, im not panicking just frustrated)

In all seriousness how many 'big' deals have actually gone through yet!? Only one that comes to mind so far is Man Utd defender.

Plenty of reasons a deal won't be completed as of yet;

Internationals- There's been games across every continent

Clubs will be eating up options and value for money

Agents will wait till after major tournaments

Players on holiday

Clubs will wait out for any higher bidders

Just because a player has publicly declared an interest doesn't mean it's a done deal within 24 hours

Would seem strange for us to have so blatantly pursued a mercenary given that one of the things our scouting team do is check the player's character as well. Can't see us being interested in someone who's only in it for the money.

there must be something blocking this deal, because from the  outside both parties seemed keen. Must be failing to agree transfer fee (although recent events suggest we will open the cheque book)
