teblin Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 We will say we are after many players in the press to put others off the scent of our actual targets
tsintskaro Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 He has great head shot, but 30m?I am not sure, pretty much expensive
GaelicFox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Not really, the more you spend then the more you're getting proven quality. Carroll was a risk at the time as he wasn't proven over a long enough time scale for that money. Torres wasn't really a risk as he was quality over a long period but just ended up being crap for Chelsea. Luis Suarez cost £70m but was hardly a risk because his quality was there for all to see. I'm not sure that logic works in football It's the "you get what you pay for" / "quality costs" argument If you invert that logic Kante , Mahrez and Vardy (6.5m in in total)!were highly unlikely to be successful. Liverpool and Spurs blew the the 160m they earned from selling bale and Suarez buying donkeys for 20m+ around Europe Not one of their expensive purchases has gone onto glory or world class status I can see your point probably stands up on the global transfer record holders but it sort of doesnt work in the 20m+ bracket Most of their buys seem to be gambles to be honest with many many failing
1972 Fox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 ok lets buy a striker from Scottish league for 250k Jim Melrose for 250k from Partick Thistle.
themightyfin Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016

Maybe we have got our wires crossed but you insinuated you didn't care about the financial aspect by saying the following in a previous post: Why are people worrying about 1) Transfer fee 2). Wages We have just won the league We are sitting in a shed load of money Our owners are rich Our recruitment had been top draw for years We want to move to the next level??? Then don't worry about spending it! It's not our money or any of the fans...so if the club wants to splash the cash why the hell do we need to worry it's not our money It does not matter a lot to me if we spend £5 or £50milli on a player. I don't get why people are saying this is to much or that is to much. Why does it matter? We can do what we want we have the best owners in the world and if they wanna throw money around let them and sit back and enjoy the ride. 0 Quote MultiQuote Top Correct that's my whole point why should we care as fans about finances That's not our job and we are not qualified to say who is worth what Our job is to support the club and players whoever try are
Koke Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 He has great head shot, but 30m?I am not sure, pretty much expensive It's 30m Euros. £23m British pound notes.
Matty Hamez Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 If you invert that logic Kante , Mahrez and Vardy (6.5m in in total)!were highly unlikely to be successful. They WERE unlikely to be successful. Not sure if you've seen a newspaper this year, but some have called it a miracle. The reason more expensive players are more expensive is that you're much more certain that they will be good. Of course, if you're terrible at judging players like Liverpool clearly were then yes, every player is essentially an equal gamble and a bigger price is a bigger risk.
Heymister2015 Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Just close the transfer thread! Going by paper talk we're set to seal about 4 strikers. What ever happens happens. I'm sure slimani was set to sign for many clubs during the January window. Waste of time falling for it all

Exactly, when we bought them no one was thinking what a bargain as they'll probably win Leicester the league title and all three will be in the six man shortlist of PFA POTY. All three have well exceeded their highest expectations.
Langston Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Always amuses me how people always say something like "defending wasn't great" about a video compilation of a player's GOALS. What did you expect?
Guest the fox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Are you his agent ? . you got me . but seriously . i m just giving an opinion to a player that i watched 70+ games of his career
49er Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 I don't think this Silimi will cut it in England , space is tight , defenders not mugs and keepers world class Who are these 'world class' goalkeepers in the Premiership? Please don't say Jo Hart. It's easy to look world class in a team when you only have a couple of shots to save. Not so easy when you losing against the Foxes!
49er Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Humm 9m on the Croatian shows spending a lot of money on overseas players is a risk especially coming from weaker leagues Yes, just think of those poor overseas players that we have seen in the past - Ronaldo, Nistelrooy, Henry, Anelka, Vidic, Bergkamp, Suarez - all a waste of money! Compare that to the home grow players - Lallana to Liverpool, Henderson to Liverpool, Darren Bent to Villa - all superstars!
AlgerianFox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Some states superSlim vs superVardy http://goalpoint.pt/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/GP-H2H-SlimaniVSVardy-Maio2016.png?228d97
49er Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Jim Melrose for 250k from Partick Thistle. Don't forget Derek Strickland from Rangers. Two goals in seven games for us - what a scoring rate! What about Martin Henderson? Came from Philadelphia Fury, but started out at Rangers. Might as well look at the players in Finland. Bring back this man:
tsintskaro Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Everything is going towards buying 2 forwards.Think about it,if leicester bought Lapadula and Sliman, two forwards with pretty much goals, but one from seria B,and second from portugal, which also is not high class leauge(i watched videos and besides very cool head goals, much of Slimani's goals wear scored from near distance, because of weak deffence and goalkiping) point is: leicester is going to champions league man,to champions league!its not battling for relegation, its not that time when they bought Mahrez and Vardy from lower leagues. This time club needs solid forward, with good experience from good league and club and not forward which chances of being a flop is 50/50.

That is not how you evaluate a striker, half of their job is movement and positioning.

I haven't got a clue how anyone decided Kante was unlikely to be successful. He had some incredible stats for one of the weaker sides of that league, a league that has seen many a quality player come to England from it. I was absolutely sure he'd succeed. Granted, didn't think he'd be THIS good.
49er Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Look at the ridiculous transfer fees for British players over the years: Lallana (Saints to Liverpool) - £25m Allen (Swans to Liverpool) - £15m Henderson (Sunderland to Liverpool) - £16m Downing (Villa to Liverpool) - £20m Johnson (Portsmouth to Liverpool) - £17m Carroll (Newcastle to Liverpool) - £35m Carroll (Liverpool to West Ham) - £15m Milner (Villa to Man City) - £26m Lescott (Everton to Man City) - £22m Shelvey (Swans to Newcastle) - £12m Sterling (Liverpool to Man City) - £49m What a waste of money, what a waste of money...

Bony comes from the Ivory Coast.
Tuna Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Bony comes from the Ivory Coast. He means British based players.
VLC86 Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 He means British based players. Clearly not as every other player on that list is English and he has now edited it
surrifox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 When people say we should take £5million or whatever the current rumoured bid for Chilwell is - Luke Shaw same position but younger was sold for £32million
