SheppyFox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Arsenal have lost out to Leicester City on the signing of Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani Arsenal’s search for a striker to replace French front man Olivier Giroud has suffered another setback. Leicester City have beaten the Gunners to the signature of talented Sporting striker Islam Slimani. The Express reports that the Foxes have won the race by activating the young striker’s 23 million pound release clause. Their bold move has put an end to what was expected to be a hotly contested transfer chase over the prolific goal scorer. Arsenal fans will be forced to look elsewhere for a top-class striker to strengthen their side next season. The miss on Slimani will only intensify pressure on Gunner manager Arsene Wenger to finally bring a world-class striker to the Emirates this summer. The French manager’s failure to address the position properly in the transfer market over the years is generally considered to be one of his biggest errors at the North London club.

SheppyFox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 .....surely all they need to do is stump up 23 million though and they've got every right to discuss terms with him. They're not willing to pay it id assume, that's if he has indeed already agreed to sign for us hehe.
Koke Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Well he's quality , Sporting supporters are really sad to see him leave but understands the club's reasons and they got him for 300K euros only he is way better than Ulloa and Okazaki he has made a great progress in his technical ability this year, became more agile his first touch passes are quality as well He'd fit perfectly in England hope he signs here Big improvement on Ulloa. Slimani and Vardy up top sharing the goal scoring burden + Mahrez chipping in with his goals. I hope we get this sorted soon.

UPinCarolina Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 It would be pretty disappointing to see this become the Musa chase 2.0
FireFox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 It would be pretty disappointing to see this become the Musa chase 2.0 But we've apparently met his release clause. We weren't willing to do that for Musa.
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 But we've apparently met his release clause. We weren't willing to do that for Musa. It's all paper talk.....we've not officially done anything

Gerard Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Hi personal story is as improbable as Vardy's or Mahrez...his works rate is hallucinant...he will run all game he is fast very incisive and décisives he is very good in the air a team player not a great dribbler but has a very accurate passing skils...in the penalty area he is a real Fennec (desert fox). He is fearless and used to play in jungles before getting un europe. We love him as you love Vardy. Sounds like he's a bit of a hybrid of Okazaki & Ulloa's best bits and an absolute beast in the air. Who is the best player in Algeria and where do you rate Mahrez and Slimani in comparison, are they the best two Algerian players? It sounds like he works as hard as Vardy and an absolute monster in the air, I'm really warming to this potential signing.
Mezeker Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 at this point we might as well inquire about Bentaleb. http://metro.co.uk/2016/05/13/tottenham-could-offload-ryan-mason-nabil-bentaleb-and-nacer-chadli-in-transfer-clear-out-5878975/

Feghouli is a good player they don't have a great deal apart from that in terms of players who'd threaten to get into a big European or South American squad. Probably one of the better teams in Africa at the moment tbf fair to them.

Fox 4 Life Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Would love this. He looks class and would fit perfectly with Vardy. Also hopefully can help convince Mahrez to stay

It sounds like he works as hard as Vardy and an absolute monster in the air, I'm really warming to this potential signing. I would say he is a Vardy ulloa hybrid (if have to stick to Leicester players) but for us he is unique Islam Slinani style very fast (not ad fast as Vardy) but close he is better then Vardy and Ulloa in the air (he would have scored a lot of the caviar that Ryad has served to ulloa misses) funny enough Islam is not a typical Algerian player (Mahrez is) he is more like an English player (straight to the point) and he is scoring a lot of goal for his club and country. Mahrez up to the last few month was a substitute to Sofiane Feghouli who is an excellent player (he had a tough season thou) Mahrez has really blossomed with The Don. Brahimi Bentaleb Djabou Ghezzal Boudebouze are all very exciting player as good as Mahrez. Islam in his style is unique because for us he is not a typical Algerian player.

49er Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 wrong thread brosef. Used this thread so that we can see another quality striker that we can bring in. Ulloa, Kramaric and Okazaki out, Janssen in to team up with Vardy and Slimani
Guest Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I'll post how I want FIF. always wanted him. Said so at the last 3 windows, we've been watching him for so long I'm sure this is true. Soon we'll all be speaking French.
Bazly Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 It is being suggested the deal is done, now onto a midfield free kick specialist. http://playingfor90.com/2016/05/13/arsenal-lose-out-to-leicester-city-in-race-for-striker/
