Which is - let's face it - ridiculous and that's the point I contested most of all. No it isn't A few police coming over in normal uniforms telling people to chill shouldn't incite a riot. Police coming out in riot gear and forming a testudo is inflammtory and most likely will get people chucking shit at them.
RowlattsFox Posted 14 June 2016 Posted 14 June 2016 I seen someone on Twitter, I think he was an ex policeman who led football related stuff and he was criticising French police suggesting that no bottles were thrown until the police put on the all the gear, it almost encourages action from the fans. Difficult job though of course, and easy to say with hindsight.

You don't specify whether the testudo is/was an action or a reaction by the police. And again, if people feel aggravated by the sheer presence of police, then you most definitely have a bit of a problem yourself - either that, or a White Russian next to you.
