"I see nothing wrong with football fans fighting. On the contrary, well done to our boys! Keep up the good work!" he tweeted. "What happened in Marseille and other French cities is not the fans' fault. It is down to the police's inability to organise and hold such events," he wrote in a separatetweet the same day. Mr Lebedev said fans needed to be "protected", adding: "We'll deal with them when they get home".

You absolutely cannot incite violence like that and just expect to get away with it. We've come out telling our fans to calm down, they've come out and told their fans to carry on. UEFA need to take action on this. I think the police are actually too scared to even try and stop them.

Wymsey Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 The key is try not to retaliate but, especially with alcohol involved, this doesn't go through some people's minds at the time. UEFA/FIFA should think about giving the World Cup tournament to someone else away from Russia, especially with it being a more prestigious football competition. Russia don't need the money or attention; as they are already known for moaning about the West, Ukraine plane crash investigation etc and think they're entirely innocent all the time.
