Robbie Brady

I agree, we have four players fighting for two wide positions in Mahrez, Albrighton, Schlupp & Gray. All of them are worthy of a place in the team but out of those four it's basically Mahrez and one other.

If we are to sign a 5th I want him to be a class above Albrighton, Schlupp and Gray not at a similar level. A marquee type signing would be great and what would be ideal is signing a Mahrez like player who can play wide left in a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 and possibly could play No10 as well.

Brady is a good player but is he worth it to us when we already have Albrighton, Schlupp and a young Demarai Gray who needs game time to develop?

Isn't it the AFCON this summer as well so that would leave us two wingers down for a month or so

LEICESTER TARGET BRADY

Leicester City are interested in Republic of Ireland winger Robbie Brady, according to Sky sources.

The Norwich City player is understood to be one of a number of potential targets on the Foxes'  summer wish list.

Think he'd fit right in, great cross on him.

Decent shot on him too from distance. Something were not great at. I wouldn't object to this and trust our scouting team.

I understand the objections considering we've just won the league. But who would have thought the likes of Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton etc would have been good enough to be a major part of a premier league winning team.

It's like people haven't learnt anything.

I don't think I or anyone else for that matter is against this signing per se.

Our opinions mean nothing in the end anyway and if Walsh/Ranieri want him then who are we to argue?

My point is that we are well stocked with wide players who are all worthy of a first team place and all offer something a bit different. We'll lose two to the AFCON so a 5th player would be good but as all our four wide players aren't really versatile enough for other positions then I would like to see us sign a 5th wide player who is a sizeable upgrade on Albrighton, Schlupp and Gray. Ideally this player can also play as a No10.

I rate Brady but I don't think he's that much better than Albrighton, Schlupp and Gray to justify the spend in an area we are well equipped in quality and numbers.

Albrighton/Brady & Mahrez/Gray are basically like for like changes with Schlupp giving us some unpredictability. The more I think about it, the more i'm warming to the idea of this signing...

I don't see why we have to play wingers on the wing opposite to their strong foot though!

Sure, if they're like Robben or Mahrez fair enough!

But for the likes of Gray, Albrighton, it just makes it very difficult for them to beat a man and deprives us of wisdth

I'm not sure, but Don Claudio likes his wingers to cut in and who are we to argue with that man ! :D

We have done amazing on finding players that 'fit' how we play. Brady would 'fit'.

That article was written in 2010 and I think it's become quite predictable now though. Last night for instance, it became tedious seeing Sterling and Sturridge unable to mix it up by going down the line and turning straight into defenders every time who knew exactly what they were going to do. It limits the width of the pitch and all.  I'd much rather see wingers able to go down the line as well and keep the defence guessing - only somebody with the quality of Riyad can do so and hence why he's been so effective.

Tell that to basically everyone we played last season.

What you're basically doing, is comparing a team and players who are dog shit at doing it, with a team that's very good at doing it.... then saying we shouldn't do it because the other team is shit at it.

You aren't going to keep the defence guessing by playing them on the correct wings any more than you are now, because they will know you're going to get to the byline and cross it in.

We're also one of the widest teams you're likely to see in the league, as we focus almost all our creativity down the wing. But it's pointless in just launching it in from the byline when you just have Okazaki and Vardy to aim at. You're basically expecting them to out jump huge defenders. Playing it from deep and early, aiming for it land in the box gives space behind the defence for quick players like Vardy and Mahrez time to move into.

If we sign someone mobile enough to keep up with play and better in the air, then you would have the option of switching it up and having Albrighton and Brady on their natural sides and swinging balls into the box. But it would certainly only be a back up, a plan B.

Not necessarily a good thing if your own players don't have a clue where the ball may end up.

Really good player but is he enough of a step up from what we have as already have 4 strong / class wingers at the club at we are the Champions of England not a mid table premier league team.

So not fussed but if we do get him, although can see is a solid signing and would fit our work ethic....meh.

Had a great euros imo, Norwich may need to lighten the wage budget, just unsure whether they will want to lose him after losing Redmond, sound investment and long term could be a great addition.

Cash and Tom Lawrence?

They lighten the wage bill, get a bit of cash and gain a player who did ok in the Championship.

Would be a good deal mate tbf, Lawrence hasnt quite made the grade here. His salary would be lower than Brady's too! It's Brady's versatility and work ethic that tick the boxes for me, would suit us to a tea
