StanSP Posted 17 June 2016 Share Posted 17 June 2016 I only just realised our only other appearance in this 'competition' was by default, not through winning the top division or the FA Cup (that one's obvious). Arsenal won the double but went on a pre-season tour in 1971 so couldn't play in the Community Shield. So Liverpool (FA Cup runners up) played us instead.
