Babylon Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 So are you seriously suggesting that the club deliberately aims to recruit British players ? what utter rubbish. They have already brought in four players none of which are british . As you quite rightly pointed out they do sign players with the right attitude and ones that will fit into our culture , but it has nothing to do with their nationality . If they sign Kean it's because he fits the bill and nothing else . So if you are suggesting the club likes to sign " British " players because they have a better attitude then we get into the realms of dare i say racism ? Well firstly you need to learn to read. I specifically expanded upon what my thoughts were on "British", that's not just people who hold a British passport, but people who have knowledge of our leagues. One of those four people you keep going on about has already lived in this country for several years and played here. Go and educate yourself with the scouting articles for a start. They specifically talk about the difficulties surrounding signing foreign players, and confirm that we actively chose to sign more players from our league system than abroad. That, is a fact and it's in black and white. There are several reasons for that, you always have a risk of lengthy settling in periods with foreign players who don't know the country. They talk about the risks of players not settling in the the style of football we have over here, so if they do sign from abroad they try to sign from clubs playing similar systems, with similar styles of football. Specifically they talked about German football being a good fit (signed three people from that league). It's fairly obvious, if you sign lots of foreign players who don't speak the language very well it's going to be difficult to keep a team spirit. If you can't communicate then how can you, it's not racist it's bloody common sense. In the articles they talked about watching other teams sign lots of foreign players and struggle, whilst those taking people from our leagues with a few foreigners did better. If you look at our pattern of signings over the years we definitely seem to target a mix. Some young talent, some older and experienced, some "British" and a few foreign. Even then with the foreigners we seem to get groups who speak the same language to help integration. Maybe it's coincidence... maybe it's highly paid professionals actually thinking past "oh he's good we'll have him". Oh yeah... lets not forget what Ranieri said: "Now I work in England I want an English player, because I think it is important to understand the mentality of the nation. In England I want an English player. In Spain I want more Spanish players. In Italy I want Italian players. This is my philosophy. The player who comes must understand the English philosophy - you must play hard until the end of the match. That is important. If you change too much from this then the philosophy could change too much, which is not good. First we choose the English player then we make comparisons with other players and choose which is best for us. But sometimes clubs go abroad because the English player costs too much." So, perhaps you should write to the club and tell Raneri he's talking "utter rubbish".
lgfualol Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 £15 million + add-ons. I think Leicester are paying us a "decent" price considering we paid £1.5 million + add-ons for him 18 months ago. It will be interesting to see if he makes the starting line-up against us this season or is on the bench. I'm sure if it goes through your owner will add an extra £1m to your £3m Summer transfer budget.

It will be interesting to see if he makes the starting line-up against us this season or is on the bench. We will have had a champions league game 3/4 days before we play you. So i imagine we will rest our better players and give the fringe players a chance against the small teams in the league.

I can already read that is also obvious . If you had said I need to understand what you wrote than I can accept that but really " you need to learn to read ? And you have the cheek to tell me to " go educate yourself " Your aggressiveness has already been taken to task by other posters ( one of which ripped you a new anus ) You need to tone down your response and learn how to debate in a civilised manner . Highlighting a sentence does not make it any more relevant it just makes you look like a shouty thug . Oh and you only have to look at the current crop of England players and results to see how far we are behind the rest of the world.
foxfanazer Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Must have improved tenfold from the last time we had him if we're bidding that sort of money! Is he still scrawny or has he bulked up a bit?
AjcW Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Must have improved tenfold from the last time we had him if we're bidding that sort of money! Is he still scrawny or has he bulked up a bit? Definitely bulked... to be fair though if he's going to get stronger anywhere it's with us, the change in some of the lads here in the last two or three seasons is incredible.

Wolfox Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Must have improved tenfold from the last time we had him if we're bidding that sort of money! Is he still scrawny or has he bulked up a bit?Is it only me who remembers him as being a pretty reasonable young centre half who started most matches that season? I thought we'd sign him up on the evidence of that season... Just took a whileI have a good feeling that this will end up being a nice bit of business

I don't look back on that team with much fondness to be honest. I remember him being quite naive but in fairness to him he was/is a young kid. I trust our scouts if they think he can do a job here
AjcW Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Absolutely, if I remember correctly he's more of a ball playing defender isn't he? For sure... didn't get too much of a chance to show it mind. I think this seasons signings are all about Plan B, which we will need to use more this season, so we've got three big bastard CB's and if this goes through two Ball Players. The Ball Playing CB's will be vital when we need to keep possession more next season.

Babylon must have a really low IQ then....grammar mistakes everywhere in this post Sorry couldn't resist! If you look at Bab's post without taking offence, he does speak a lot of sense and uses facts. We need a home-grown core for us to meet league and CL requirements. Zieler is classed as a home grown player and I think that's what he's trying to get at. We sign players that fit our system and have the same philosophy as the rest of the squad. If they know our league already or are classed as home-grown players then all the better.

If you had said I need to understand what you wrote than I can accept that but really " you need to learn to read ? It was written quite clearly for you to understand, and yet you didn't. So you hadn't bothered to read the post properly had you, I didn't explain it much differently the second time. As for my IQ, maybe it is lower that yours I don't really know or care. But what's clear is I have paid attention to what the club have said and you haven't. And you have the cheek to tell me to " go educate yourself " Well quite clearly you need to on the subject of our scouting, that much is obvious because you don't have a clue about that. You're the one telling everyone they are talking "rubbish", so before you do that perhaps it might be wise so you don't look silly. Your aggressiveness has already been taken to task by other posters ( one of which ripped you a new anus ) You need to tone down your response and learn how to debate in a civilised manner. What like calling someones post "absolute rubbish" and basically saying what they have said is racist, accusing others of "spouting rubbish". When actually they are repeating what the club themselves have said. Yes, what a wonderful civilised debating style you have yourself. Highlighting a sentence does not make it any more relevant it just makes you look like a shouty thug . A shouty thug... for making something bold. Oh and you only have to look at the current crop of England players and results to see how far we are behind the rest of the world. Do I sense that you're actually trying to argue with Ranieri here, perhaps you need to speak to him instead.

Of course I'm only responsible for what I say , I'm not responsible for what you understand. Anyway I'm not going to get into a bitchfest with you I saw enough of that the last time someone took you to task and it just gets boring . So bye for now you shouty thug !

RowlattsFox Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Can't help but think we should have tried to sign him before this if we thought he was good enough. Maybe we did. For what its worth I quite liked him when he was here, young and naive but showed decent potential. Also a threat from set pieces which will be useful.
Babylon Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Can't help but think we should have tried to sign him before this if we thought he was good enough. Maybe we did. It about development, we obviously saw the raw talent. But if we'd signed him, we might not have been able to offer the games to enable him to develop in the manner he has. He's played a large number of games for someone his age... we can barely offer our best u21 talent a game.
notnow john Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Cracking response there. A real valid point Thought it was a bit childish myself.
Bunyip Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Cracking response there. A real valid point There should be a full stop at the end of the sentence ! Oh come on Simmo it was meant light heartedly .
MPH Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 There should be a full stop at the end of the sentence ! Oh come on Simmo it was meant light heartedly . What the hell is wrong with you? Hardly posted much for two years and then come on here with attitude acting like you're some sort of supreme being. You're not impressing anyone. No one is thinking you're great. Go away.
