Inler on his way

Recommended Posts

Doubt many on here feel the same but I'm gutted it didn't work out as watched him play like a beast in Serie A for years and couldn't wait to see him here. Came on against Spurs and in those 15 mins I thought he looked class. 60 mins against Aston Villa and he looked terrible. In the odd game towards the end he looked as though he was getting used to the speed and pace of our league off loading the ball a lot quicker but Drinkwater and kante were never going to be dislodged. Shame but good luck to him wherever he ends up.

No I agree, I took to him despite his slowness to adjust.

Col giving it the "I was right, again" carry on.

Inler is a quality midfielder, he just does not suit the style of play that we found to work for us. He evidently didn't get settled into the side early on and was unfortunate that we signed the greatest midfielder this club has ever had.

He's turned out to be a bad signing in terms of getting game time but I'd wager that he's been excellent in the dressing room. He's a fairly big name player yet hasn't kicked up any fuss and always seems cheerful in training/on the bench or wherever.

All in all, hard luck with your time here Gokan but all the best in the future.

Top professional - Never complained once, kept himself fit and always showed encouragement to the players, especially the younger ones.

Sometimes it's hard to gauge exactly what an impact someone like Inler has, even when he's not playing. Putting his arm around a youngster to show encouragement and giving players advice on both tactics and handling the pressure are invaluable in my opinion.

He won't go down in Leicester City folk law but don't underestimate the role he played behind the scenes.

Inler's not been a bad influence at Leicester. He's just been unfortunate in not winning a first team place because of the standards set by others.  So why would anyone want to hive him off to the land of Erdogan when so many Turks just want to escape the place.

Keep Him. Our Midfield options look increasingly weak.

Why are people writing Mendy off after minimal minutes in pre-season? Even Kante didn't look good until 4-5 games of the premier league season. Cambiasso took even longer.

Not writing Mendy off at all, if he comes good then great, if he gets injured then I'm afraid for all my love of Kingy and his spectacular 20min cameos he just isn't good enough to play that role full time and so I think to be on the safe side we should keep hold of our experienced CM's unless we go out and buy a top top talent.

True but the same could have been said if Kante got injured last year. I agree with you about King though, love the guy but he is not a starting calibre CM for a champions league team unfortunately.

He is of Turkish descent and may enjoy ending his career there.

It's about time someone came in and signed Inler..even for nothing. He's allegedly on 50k per week (which could be used FAR more wisely) and he's nowhere near the first team. It's obvious Ranieri don't fancy him. We need to offload him.

All this 'he's a great guy to have around' don't wash with me. I'm a great guy to have around. I'll do it for 100 quid a week as long as I can play in a reserve game! lol

All in all, a waste of money.

All these people saying model pro.

Truth is he burnt his bridges and fell out with the club back in January after he got the hump because we did him out of a loan move by damanding a 2 mil loan fee.

From that point onwards he fell out with the powers that be and was never going to be part if long term plans.

He was hardly a model pro and made it clear he wanted out and had no desire to play for us and hardly spoke to any management team since the turn of the year while getting a reported 50k a week.

I think that 50K per week is the problem. He hasn't played for a year. No one is willing to pay him that much...and why take a paycut to move? He has a contract with LCFC. This is why I thought there might be something to that Wolves rumour. We will probably have to loan him out, and pay part of the contract. It will either be that, or pay him 50K per week to win the Football League Trophy.

I can't see any player rushing to go and play in Turkey at the moment as the place is still a bit of s pressure cooker politically

There's only a handful of teams that could afford him and even fewer that are actually reliable and decent. I can name maybe three clubs that would be a (perfect) match for him: Besiktas (he's a boyhood fan), Fenerbahçe (he once did a cheeky attempt at a trial there) and Galatasaray (another failed impromptu trial in his early twenties).

You don't get to be the captain of the Swiss national team by not being a model pro.

He's never talked badly about the club in all these months from what I gather in the press, only openly admitted that he hates the feeling of not being able to play regular football.

Why a loan move falls through can be down to a few reasons and you should know that: The player doesn't want to go, doesn't like the proposal, or the loan fee offered by the club on the other side is too low.

Using the failed loan move in January against him is a bit of a dick move and smells of trash talk.

Also, a football player doesn't have to talk to the management in person - it's often the agent who takes care of that aspect of the business. Just saying.

As for the alleged £50k per week, you could also blame the club for being willing to agree to paying that amount (back in August 2015). But that was then and we're all a bit wiser now, aren't we?

1) Just because he is captain of his country does not automatically mean he behaves as a model pro at his club!

2) I never once stated he bad mouthed the club in the press.

3) The reason his loan broke down is stated in my post so your reasons a loan may break down are irrelevant

4) Fact is he did get the hump when the loan moved broke down he felt Leicester priced him out of a move and tbf 2m does seem quite a steep loan fee.

5) It was at this point he burnt his bridges with the management and made it clear he wanted out and didn't see his future here.

6) Of course he is going to say in the press he is frustrated at not playing

The whole point if my post was in response to people saying he is a model pro and a great guy to be around is rubbish as he did not want to be around and he made it clear to management he very rarely even traveled with the first team squad last few months.

I don't think there is fault on either side sometimes things just don't work out but despite what you think he's not been the model pro and just sat there and got on with it. He did spit his dummy out and that spelt the end for him.

1) He's a model pro and never kicked up a fuss wherever he went (he's a quiet, reserved and almost timid guy in reality), but it'd take too much effort to ask around at the club, especially as far as the players are concerned

2) You claim he didn't want to play for the club again, yet he stayed when he could've left in January and he's never come out with a bad word about the club ever since

3) The loan didn't break down because of Inler alone from what I gather (see my point above)

4) He still is one of the high earners at the club and comes with tons of experience - do you think the club would let him leave on loan for peanuts?

5) He's never burned bridges with the management

6) Well, yeah - obviously

You claim he never spoke to the management since the turn of the year, then revert to the contrary by saying "he did not want to be around and he made it clear to management" lol.

He's a model pro and has shown this wherever he's been - be it Zurich, Udinese, Napoli or Leicester. I wouldn't be amazed if he's had quite an impact on the rest of the team even though he's hardly ever played. And he's never "spat his dummy out", either (which could also be applied to the press dealings since January).

Methinks you're just desperate for deliberately bad-mouthing one of our own, trying to create a problem or conflict zone where there is none.

1) Yes he did kick up a fuss just because it was not reported in the press does not mean it did not happen

2) He was not allowed to leave in Jan because no club would pay the 2 m loan fee I've stated this 3 times now so it was not his choice to stay he asked for the loan to get games to keep his international place is nothing else.

3) Yes he did burn his bridges with management after the loan broke down he made it clear he wanted out and was not for the cause anymore

Like I said I don't think anyone was to blame it just did not work out but he was not a model pro and did not even want to be around for the last few months.

I have nothing against him and am disappointed things didn't turn out as I think he showed glimpses of class in the little time we saw him.

Make of it as you will if you want to call him a model pro that's fine it's all about opinions.

Yours is quite clearly wrong though.
