Inler on his way

What would have happened if we'd have had some injury problems in midfield? He'd have come in and probably done a decent job. He was a squad player in the end who we didn't need, but only hindsight can tell you that.

Not so sure about that Bob ...   we had some midfield cover without him (eg King) and could also have jigged things round differently ...    but if we had got a lot of injuries and he had come in I fear we would not have won the Prem ...   imo.

He lives on David Wilson estate in Quorn.

I've visited him & he has been active in our local community with fetes etc...

I'll take a pic next time I pass

He does sound like a decent bloke, despite not playing much.

Know that estate well, as someone called Mike Boddington (big city fan) lived around there and was well-known, especially in the pubs in Quorn, but sadly passed away this year.

I know the scout Steve Walsh has a flat property in Mountsorrel and not certain on this but The Birch lives in the Mount as well apparently in a bungalow.

Yep, lives in Quorn. He opened an event in the village last month.

Top bloke

I heard he lives in Broughton Astley.

Also helped out at the Sapcote fete last summer by manning the "guess the weight of the jelly beans" jar and helping serve some pissed down lemonade at £5 a plastic cup.

Top bloke!

100% lives in Quorn.

When my daughter and her mates found out.... They "called for him"!

He gave all the kids signed photographs on his doorstep, posed for selfies and when one of the lads asked, he opened the garage to show them his sports car. (Not a euphemism)

A top bloke.

He lives in Highfields and helped at their summer fete last year by helping judge the 'Guess the weight of this crack' game.

Top man.

Any reason he wasn't about yesterday? Seems like the perfect oportunity to put him on display like with Moore... also might have shown he perhaps still had something to offer? Such a shame to see a career drop like his... When we signed him last season I thought he would have been our main/top buy! Crazy really. Suppose it could all be his own fault for not putting a shift in in training though.

Mike Bod with 1 D, the others is a northern beer.

Not sure if the estate agents have ever referred to Leicester road Quorn as an estate,  missing a trick.

Birch does live in Mountsorrel

Are you not confusing him for Compo from Last of the Summer Wine

Such a shame, he came over, we were all hugely excited and he ended up ruining his career and smiled throughout.

Earning millions of pounds and a championship winner's medal would make up for it though...mostly.

Fantastic attitude went from Swiss captain to not even in the squad for the euros never bitched or moaned and always put the team first. In fact the attitude of a few of squad players played a part in our title win cause all it takes is a few snide, negative voices but inler Kram Benny and co knuckled down and got on with it you only have to look at their social media to see that.

Is this the first player with a winners medal to leave us?

Well done for posting this. there will be a lot of abuse for the players mentioned (especially Inler) but he's been completely professional and nobody really knows how much he's contributed behind closed doors. Wish him well. He's a great pro and deserves to be playing elsewhere.

Played for the under 23s with Moore, de laet and Hamer. Just doesn't it our style as well as his legs are going.

Aside from all the pleasantries, the signing of Inler has proven to be pretty terrible, in footballing terms. I read he's been on 50k per week to be very much a bit part player in a younger and more energetic squad. Though 50k a week is not massive (for football), it's not insignificant.

He's lost his international recognition, has dropped down the pecking order to bottom of the central mids and there don't seem to be many clubs clamouring for his signature. All in all, a bad signing by the club, unless you think that 50k per week (and a few mill transfer fee) pays for 'a decent bloke to have around'.

It never ceases to amaze me re. the psychology of the football fan. Why one player should essentially be a failure at a football club, but be liked and 'understood' by fans, whereas others will have joined a club, got paid a kings ransom, played very little football and be despised for it.

Inler signed for us on the back of being 'midfield quality', a composed head, experienced (he must be good, he's played for Napoli.....) etc. What we've seen, so far, is a different player to this and frankly, a big waste of money.

Who's pissed on your cornflakes bud? :)

Valid point you make Col, yet I do think the counter argument is that I Inler who has been at a very high level would chose not to play and yet despite obvious frustration hasn't kicked up a stink?

And he's a dream at your local fete or if you decide to stalk him :)

Listen mate, I've played for Leicester Boys, I'm a bloody nice bloke and promise if I don't play for City's first team I won't kick up a stink. I'll also do all that (and that's a lot, I'm sure you agree...) for a grand a week! I'll even chuck in washing the Chairman's car!

Finally, I'll even have rotten toms thrown at me, locked in the stocks at  Blaby fete (but only if you make my signing on fee 100k)

Do I make my point!?

Think tbf it just shows how far we have come in such a short time, he should have been able to get in the side but it didn't work out, we aim to be a top 6 side and would he get into any top 6/8 team No, look down the league, look were we got him from in Italy and the credentials and he looks the sort of player to do a job for a Hull,Burnley, WBA,Norwich,Bournemouth sort of team. There will be teams in the top 6 who have similar players who cost considerably more and on a lot more also nowhere near a match day squad. Lets put a positive on it and think of him as an upgrade on GTF and probably a cheaper option considering while here GTF had access to the training ground canteen. Certainly fitted in with the squad and didn't kick off which of course he shouldn't do with the wage he is on but plenty of other players do at other clubs.
