Foxexile16 Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 If media reports are to be believed (difficult I know) can someone explain to me how 'representatives' of Vardy and Kante can approach another club and ask if they want to buy the players? This has to be immoral if not illegal - or am I missing something? Either way, it is another facet of modern football that should be outlawed.
Benji Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Clue's kind of in the name. I think if someone is going out and saying "this guy has a contract with a release clause of £Xm in it" that's a different story as it's breaching confi info but it's no different to you or me calling up a recruiter whilst already employed about possible new opportunities.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 I'm sure you'd all love someone on your behalf who's job it is to tap up other companies and potentially double your salary. Don't blame the player blame the game.
Cheese Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Why do players actually have agents? Can't they negotiate contracts themselves?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Why do players actually have agents? Can't they negotiate contracts themselves? What a full, legal, bespoke document?
Alexikokopops Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Why do players actually have agents? Can't they negotiate contracts themselves? Why would you if you can easily afford someone with much more experience of doing it who can get you a better deal than you could yourself?
Fox92 Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Why do players actually have agents? Can't they negotiate contracts themselves? Scholes never had an agent. Don't think Giggs did either. Jimmy Bullard didn't have an agent.
Babylon Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Why would you if you can easily afford someone with much more experience of doing it who can get you a better deal than you could yourself? Why would you pay massive lump sums to people and continue to pay them 10% when you could surely hire a professional on a one off basis. I can see the need of them, but I don't see why you'd need them day in day out.
ScouseFox Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 if i had enough money i literally wouldn't do anything myself
MPH Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 If i could hire someone to go out there and find a job where i am wanted and it doubles my salary, you bet i would!! Its also about getting a bigger offer from the current job too...
Tuna Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Why do players actually have agents? Can't they negotiate contracts themselves? No because most footballers are thicker than a potato.
MPH Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 No because most footballers are thicker than a potato. I remember reading about how Brian little used to have to take Julian Joachim down to the train station to make sure he got on the right train....
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Scholes never had an agent. Don't think Giggs did either. Jimmy Bullard didn't have an agent. Oh yeah, all the transfers Scholes and Giggs went through it's a wonder how they ever coped
Captain... Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Why do players actually have agents? Can't they negotiate contracts themselves? Some players are represented by the PFA for contract negotiation purposes, James Milner was one, I don't know if he still is. I expect some players like Scholes and Giggs had financial advisors and a legal team to check contracts and also look after any sponsorship deals. Agents do more than just manage transfers, they also look after commercial deals and other sponsorship deals.
Cheese Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 What a full, legal, bespoke document? I signed a contract at work without an agent.
Stevie Synex Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Scholes never had an agent. Don't think Giggs did either. Jimmy Bullard didn't have an agent. Jimmy should have had an agent
NewEnglandFox Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Jimmy should have had an agent Great story about Jimmy. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/feb/20/jimmy-bullard-hull-city-extra-15000-wages-week-by-mistake
ARM1968 Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Doing their jobs really. They're parasites. But aren't we all at the end of the day?

bluebeau Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 I signed a contract at work without an agent. Hey Cheese, your Rex/Dino obviously had a 'release' clause in his contract!
