dylanlegend Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 The thing is we all knew Kante and Mahrez would leave eventually just hoping it wouldn't be this season
jim5000 Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 I don't think Kante and Mahrez will go, not this summer at least. It's silly season with the papers, and they are desperate to sell papers and get web clicks. I was (a bit sad I know) geniuniely upset with the Vardy to Arsenal story, I thought everything would fall apart and that we wouldnt even get to support a City player at the Euros! We have a great team, a great club bond, CL football for the first time, and a great manager. We can afford to pay the players what they want, and we're about to embark on great adventure. What do Chelsea have to offer Kante this season at least?
Tuna Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 Drinkwater is very happy here, but the club need to pul their finger out and reward him for the season with a new deal. Riyad is under contract and like John Stones, Morgan Schniderlin and Troy Deeny will not leave unless we decide we want to sell him no matter how much he moans about it.

As long as Mahrez is under contract without a RC surely it's win-win for us? He doesn't seem the type to sulk so unlikely to reduce morale in the dressing room. He can't afford to play sh*t on purpose if we don't sell as no-one will want him anymore (look at Berahino). Basically just say give us one more season and we promise you can leave next season, as we should have agreed with that greedy little sh*t Kunte
weller54 Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 Wasn't the domino effect the reward for keeping a clean sheet?
Gerard Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 The owners asked us to trust them a year ago and this far, they have done a pretty good job with their decisions. My only concern at this point is their policy re renegotiating contracts. It would appear (and we don't have all the facts) that we are following the 'wait till you have to' route. There are different ways of running a business. I do a lot of trading in the Far East and it's routine for people to move jobs for more money and opportunity. Much more so than in Europe. Despite that, bosses tend not to offer better packages until it's too late and the staff indicate they are leaving. In my business, we identify good staff we feel are possibly underpaid and approach them with a rise before they feel the need to look elsewhere. the grass invariably looks greener and trying to stop them leaving is always a much more expensive exercise than keeping them happy in the first place. in the Far East, there is a plentiful supply of staff, ready to take the jobs. However, i'm struck by how many of my trading partners moan that they can never get 'good staff'. I always counter by saying that they have had 'good staff' but they have always moved on. They shrug their shoulders and moan some more. Maybe we believe that there is plentiful supply of good players, a available at a decent price and wage, to take the place of anyone who wants to leave. That could well be true but it will be extremely stressful for the supporters to find out if this policy works. DD is quoted this week as saying he hasn't had any contact re an improved contract. Just a call to his representatives to say we would be coming to him before the end of the window with improved terms would be something. But nothing? in his position, I would be asking myself if I was really valued here. If I shouldn't be looking elsewhere. And if a 'Liverpool' make contact with his agent then what happens ? Tie him down now to a new deal at 70k and its all done. wait for him to get an offer elsewhere at 80k and it will cost you 85k to keep him. And you avoid any potential unrest. and perhaps he will be happy to take 5k less money to move on? It might look a more attractive long term proposition to him? I trust the owners and the board but to say I'm not concerned would be a lie. Always enjoy your posts as we share the same viewpoint a lot of the time, you're one of the best posters on here.
yorkie1999 Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 Seems to me all these players being linked here, there and everywhere for vast sums of money is all being driven by sky. They put all the money in and that money needs to be spent and clubs spend it on players which in turn raises the profile of the prem and consequently sky tv. Its a never ending circle of self promotion and increased revenue with no losers because the clubs get richer, the players get richer and the fans get more entertainment.
Gerard Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 Kante going is a loss! Mahrez going isn't tbh! If he wants to go! Let him go. Uh?
Gerard Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 We need to get our major players signed up: Vardy Mahrez Drinkwater Schmeichel Morgan Then not sell unless we want to. There's a feeling that because Kante is off the whole thing is a house of cards. We've lost one major player this summer, let that be and end to it.

I do find it funny thesedays than with years remaining on a contract you can say at anytime right I want more money so give me another contract. It would be nice to see a player honour the contract they signed. Though I'm sure the players agent/lawyers made sure there were all sort of things added to the original contract so the player had all the power to change the contract whenever they wanted.
Crinklyfox Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 We had a squad of players that worked and played together and the results showed on the pitch. One summer shouldn't destroy that so I don't expect a domino effect. What is important is that the club maintains the good spirit by treating the players fairly in terms of contracts. There's a lot of concern about losing Kante, very few posters have shown similar concerns for Morgan, Drinkwater and Huth but they are the spine of our side and I hope they are treated fairly with that in mind by the club.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 The problem with Kante going is, hand on heart, he's the one I most didn't want to go. What a willy puller! There is no such thing as loyalty in football I guess. It's all money.
LanguedocFox Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 This, if true, is even more worrying than the prospect of losing Kante or Mahrez: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/16/leicester-city-resigned-to-losing-head-of-recruitment-steve-wals/

I'm unhappy about the message it sends to the players though re loyalty.
Wymsey Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 Dominos is sh*t, over-priced crap. Oh, misread thread.
Spicer Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 We have a ready made replacement for Kante in Mendy. I reckon this could save us. From what I hear Drinkwater is signing the new contract. We just need to keep Mahrez.

MC Prussian Posted 16 July 2016 Posted 16 July 2016 I find it quite an exciting scenario, still. And the type of posts lately trying to profit from an artificial hysteria around the fanbase are somewhat amusing. We're now looking at a season where we'll have to find out how it's going to work out without our workhorse in the middle, whether Mendy can close the gap left by Kanté, whether other central midfielders can step up and make Kanté forget, whether Ranieri is dropping the 4-4-2 for a 4-3-3 occasionally, ... This club has always been in some sort of constant dramatic flux. It won't be any different this time around. Take it easy, enjoy the ride. Or else try to find another club that suits your needs better.

weller54 Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Could it be some players and staff think.. 'weve achieved all we can here.. Time to move on to a new challenge and 'bigger ' clubs '.... Think the exodus is only just beginning!!
pazzerfox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Get rid of them. Kasper, Vards, Drinky, Mahrez. Aso long as we have Huth and Morgan we will avoid relegation and let's be honest, that's what a team like Leicester is realistically looking to achieve.

Think the exodus is only just beginning!! Yes, and Armaggeddon is just around the corner. Hope you've stashed up on Ravioli and Tuna cans.
