filbertstreet Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 in italian but apparently atalanta are looking into signing him back again http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/atalanta-tris-di-nomi-per-la-difesa-benalouane-gagliolo-o-paletta-868493
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 Shame really, he didn't actually do much wrong when he played.
MPH Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 And this is my concern about signing players from Italian football. Its such a vastly different style of play at a much different pace that it isnt easy for him to stamp his authority on the pitch without successive games. Now he did nothing wrong and plkayed well in his limited opportunities but the team did so well that it was hard for him to get a look in. All the best to him.
Wymsey Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 Been linked with a few clubs. I assume he isn't somewhere else this Summer due to wage demands?

I dunno - I quite liked that geezer who sang nessun dorma at the Everton game..

He wasn't even a stand out player over there. It didn't add up when we signed him.

Anyone know why we did sign him then ?? ... Wasn't he a CR signing ? ... Surely not a Lord Walsh recommendation.
TMELcfc Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 I have to say, I didn't quite see the point in signing Hernandez when we had Was and Benny, but now we have Hernandez, there isn't much point in keeping him... especially if the stories are true about us going in for another centre back! Never given a fair chance, but best of luck to him if he leaves. Another one who never kicked up a fuss, despite struggling for first team football.
Guest Papasmurf Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 Never got a chance. When he played it was at right back which isn't his natural position. Looked immense with Was at centre back against West Ham in the cup.

This signing didn't work out so we'll put the blame on Ranieri. Unless Benny comes in because of an injury and is solid, then it was Walsh.

Who knows who made the choice, but we know our scouts weren't overly keen on signings from Italy (despite signing Cam) as they said so in the scouting articles. Nothing stood out stat wise like many of the pre Ranieri signings did. Not a young player with room to grow and not vastly experienced either. I would guess Ranieri, but it's not impossible he was scouted by us before.

Hope I'm not worrying unnecessarily .....
Ric Flair Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 I rated him in the cup games he played. Likewise I rate Amartey every time I see him and yet he's treated without about as much respect as a cow pat too.

Rushden fox Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 Moore, De Laet now benny, I wish we were building a squad to fight in all four fronts!!! Sigh

The only thing that i would say is he fits the type of player personality wise as does Inler. Also i do recall Ranieri saying when he first joined that he was only signing players recommended by scouts.

Never got a proper chance to shine, but it's hard to blame anyone with how the season went. Amartey must be familiar with the league now but is also not getting a run. I think he's quality on what I've seen from him. He covers ground quickly and I think he can be the find of this season if he gets a run in the Team. I think Benny was a CR signing as was Mendy even though we had him under watch. It's these type of decisions which may have contributed to Walsh moving to Everton.
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 In every game he's played in, he looked decent. He seemed a good character last year and he's constantly talking us up on social media and showing support for the team. In many ways he's exactly the kind of signing we usually make. He didnt get in the first team because he was shit, it was just because the defence was so good. I'm glad he's got a squad number and hope he stays for at least another year.
Russell sprout Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 I read a lot about him doing nothing wrong, i think you have to put it down to how the players we have have rose to the occasion, he not not playing through misfortune, but because our unknown players be four him have raised the game massively
foxes21 Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 I think we can go far in the cups with Wasyl & Benalouane at the back. Lots of talk about needing another CB, but these two give us lots of strength in depth in this department !
