Staffs Fox Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Might sound like a knee jerk reaction but if he can produce constantly like that every week he'll be better than Kante! He hasn't quite got the telekenetic ability to intercept like Kante has but he was stronger in the tackle, stronger in the air and played the ball better. Absolutely terrific MOTM performance

Absolutely terrific MOTM performance Disagree with those bolded parts. Depends on your definition of 'stronger in the tackle'. He had bit more of a physical presence, but Kante tended to come away with the ball a bit more; he had an unnatural ability to just smoothly hook the ball away, almost without the player noticing. I've never seen a player ever able to do this as well as Kante, so that's no slight on Amartey. I also don't think he played the ball better. Again, he played the ball well, but Kante's passing was severely under-rated. He almost always found his target, and always looked to pass forward. Definitetly stronger in the air though I'm not hating on Amartey, because it was a good performance, but Kante is arguably the best defensive player in the world, and Amartey's not quite there yet. Looks promising though, fills me with a bit more hope for our midfield this season!
