StriderHiryu Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Exceptional performance! Did he put a foot wrong in the match? I can't remember it if he did. Obviously its its one game and Swansea are not in the same ball park as some of the other big boys but a really promising display. In in two minds now about signing N'Zonzi or similar. Still feel we should just to have depth in the squad but this guy deserves a run in the side now. Interested to see if he can replicate that display at Anfield!
EnglishOxide Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Fantastic midfield performance. He's looking a bit more comfortable on the ball now he's been with us for 8 months. When he first joined you could see he lacked a bit of confidence in slotting into the team and knowing when to attack/defend/press. But he seems on the same wavelength now. He's just won his place in the team IMO. Mendy now will have to take his chance in the cup.
Tielemans63 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 If he can play like that regularly then who needs N'Zonzi?
Webbo Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 I bet Kante left because I thought he wouldn't get in the team this season.
Kitchandro Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Very encouraging. I don't think he's as good as Kante but as I said last week he doesn't have to be. What we need is a man who can do that role so that our team can function in the way it did last season. Today he did a great job of that.
WigstonWanderer Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Sigh of relief that we have someone in this position
sk3since03 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Great performance made the position his own today
Drygon Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 People here will quickly change their mind if Amartey makes a poor performance in the next game...

He was great, it's really positive... Nobody actually thinks he's suddenly proved to be better than NG. It's just nice to see someone get a chance and take it.

stevelcfc Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Need a Kant replacement?... Looks like we already had the solution.
foxinsox Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Kante was instrumental in winning the league for us, and we sold him for a 25+ million profit that paid for our summer signings. There will always be players that want to go elsewhere, for a variety of reasons, but Kante deserves a warm welcome when he comes. Amartey looks as if he has his place in the side now. Kante can join Cambiasso in the history books.

State the bleeding obvious. If someone plays well they are a hero for a week, if they have a stinker they get told so. That tends to be how the world works.
Bamba's Babes Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 The apprentice has gone, the master has arrived.
Buzzell Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Great performance from Amartey today. Let's hope he kicks on from here.

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Outstanding today. Won possession back on many occasions, calm & collected on the ball, fantastic energy in the middle of the park. This chap is only 21, and to put in a performance like that demonstrates what a good player we could have on our hands, he's only going to get better and better too. Originally I said we are ok for centre midfielders this summer, I'm starting to think that again.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 With that performance no need to get another CM, he more than filled the gap Kante left. Younger too

But what if the CM that replaces Amartey if he gets injured, gets injured?

sdb Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Really pleased for him. Great performance. Big gamble to avoid another signing but could be worth it, especially if we can't shift Inler.
