NotTheMarketLeader Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Up until today I had not seen much to suggest he could do a job for us. Today though he played very well, so that gives me much more cause for optimism that he may be what we are looking for.
Merging Cultures Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Amartey did well today but he is no Kante, no one is Kante..,.....so let's stop comparing and move onYou're so boring. Kante was more boring though.
Fox92 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Said all along he should start. Strong, quick, tall. He can fill the gap which King struggles with. Much better performance.
LinekersApples Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Won more headers today than Kante did all season. Kante was a rash and we miss his mobility, but DA is a presence. Valuable in games like today, might find it more difficult against the big boys.

He'd only had very brief cameos in the team and when he had played he looked tidy so I think that's a bit unfair.

True, Kante was even brilliant against the best... but Amartey has shown he has the credentials and he is still only 21
Lovejoy Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 It genuinely looked like Amartey and Drinkwater have been playing together for years. Buzzing about his performance today.
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Yes, he looked a quality player today. Always put himself in the right positions to break up the play. Energetic throughout, his performance was summed up on one of his final contributions to the game. Intercepting the ball with a header only to see the ball go in its intended direction and Amartey the other, sliding a further 10 yards on his back through the waterlogged pitch. The guy was everywhere. Great prospect, can only improve, needs a run in the team and if he can work on beefing up a little, could be a beast in the middle of the field.
Finnaldo Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Important to remember Super Daniel's only 21 as well, look like he's starting to adapt to the Premier League as well. He's got years to improve and is a great prospect.

RastaDog Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 He was brilliant today. Today. I'd seen promise in previous performances but nothing that suggested he could play as he did today. It was a massive step up. I don't expect that from him next game. Although obviously I hope so. So, as they say,one swallow does not a summer make. I think we still need another CM.

Wolfox Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 As I said in the post match thread.... Was anyone else reminded of a young Patrick Viera...??? I think he and Drinkwater in tandem could dominate midfields
hatasi Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 can you -anyone- make a video for his touches vs swansea because i missed the match
Bluetintedspecs Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Now that's a way to lay down your marker in a position! Stunning MOTM performance by the lad just pipping Shinji for that accolade Imo.
dayday Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Fair play to Daniel, he had to fight for the right to Amartey.

iancognito Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 He was bought as a DM who could play at RB or even CB if needed, obviously with Kante being so incredible last season he's had to wait his turn but today he played like a guy who's been waiting and was immense. Time and again he intercepted or won the ball back and the way the players jumped on him after Vardy's goal shows how much his ball winning was appreciated, as much as Drinky's pass, he made that goal. Between last week and today I'm much preferring Amartey in that role to Mendy but time will tell how it pans out.
Claridge Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Is Kante not Kante? Reminds me of reservoir dogs but I can't spell that blokes name
