Guest CityFan 06 Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 * Wasn't sure whether to put this in here, feel free to move if needed. * Who's summer transfer window have you been impressed with? I think Middlesbrough's summer has been superb. They've invested excellently well and bought in some good players. I retain my reckoning that they will be fine this season, I think the Karanka and Boro suit the league. Man United have done well in investment. Ibrahimovic is proving to be a successful signing (as expected to a degree). Pogba although some don't agree with the price, I think he will still come very good. Leicester. Personally I've been very impressed with our summer, we've invested in the areas required and signed some real quality. The Slimani addition is a sign of intent.
yorkie1999 Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Merson gave us a c, but chelsea an a+ because they managed to capture the signature of kante after scouring europe and managing to unearth a gem all by themselves. What an incredible bit of scouting that was. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/15205/10559733/paul-mersons-club-by-club-transfer-window-grades
Fox 4 Life Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Merson literally hates us since we smashed his beloved Arsenal and then denied them their god given right to our players, I wouldn't take any notice

shen Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Unsurprisingly, Everton have had a great window in my opinion. Stekelenburg, Williams, Bolasie and Gueye are all solid players and they got a huge amount for Stones, got rid of error-prone Howard and deadwood in Pienaar. Liverpool have also gotten rid of fringe players for great sums and bought relatively well if unspectacularly. Finally, I think Southampton have had another decent window despite losing yet another three key players. I believe Boufal will be a big hit a la Mahrez, while I've always liked Redmond and Højbjerg has great potential.
Dr The Singh Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Kante is the bargain of the season!! I thought Middlesborough did really well Negrado was a absolute steel Stoke got a couple of good players on loan, Indis and Bony
foxy boxing Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Everton had a solid transfer window and chelsea stealing kante means they have a great addition, man utd getting ibra on a free is fantastic as he will get goals for them and buying back pogba has beefed up their midfield
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Chelsea did the best deal getting Kante for a 3rd of the price of Pogba.... .... then undid it by buying that clown back from PSG. Kante is gonna be a busy boy mopping up the mistakes Luiz makes. He really is a liability of a CB! I think Palace had a good window personally.
AKCJ Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 I think a C- is incredibly harsh on us. We've beefed up the squad considerably, given contracts to all of our big hitters and have only lost one player. In fact, I'd go as far to say we've have an A-/B+ summer. It's been far better than any of us imagined it would.
foxinsox Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 I think that we did very well. Apart from Kante we kept everyone that we wanted to, and that was even more important than marquee signings. We made fine additions in Zieler, Mendy, Musa and Slimani. Kapustska looks good too. Another midfielder and right sided defender would have been useful, but not at the prices being touted. I am pretty optomistic. Everton have done good business, and ManU have spent heavily but well. Middlesborough and Hull have done enough to survive. The rest I have not followed too closely but I would not be happy if an Arsenal fan.
AKCJ Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Out of 10... Arsenal - 7 Bournemouth - 6 Burnley - 5 Chelsea - 8 Palace - 7 Everton - 6 Hull - 4 Leicester - 7 Liverpool - 7 Man City - 7 United - 9 Middlesbrough - 8 Southampton - 5 Stoke - 7 Sunderland - 6 Swansea - 5 Spurs - 6 Watford - 6 West Brom - 6 West Ham - 5
TheSomersetFox Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 We've kept hold of Mahrez, Vardy, Drinky, Chilwell etc, signed some exciting talent in Kaputska, Musa, and Mendy and added a much needed quality goalkeeper along with another good CB. Slimani takes us to a different level aswell as he's the finished article and a proven quality player, he alone makes our team/squad considerably stronger. shipped out de laet, inler, dodoo etc who had no future here. Had a great window imo, Kante is the only real downside but we could do nothing about that
Fox92 Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Disappointed Kante went which was a bargain for Chelsea other than that we've done well. C is stupid/harsh. In the end Hull got in a couple of decent players. Everton did really well in terms of management because Koeman is a great manager and will rightly have them finish top 7 or 8. Southampton have lost key players - including their two top goalscorers - without really replacing them. I'd be disappointed if I were a Saints fan.
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Utd and Chelsea have had blinding windows. I'm happy with ours, aside from losing Kante for what now appears to be a very low price. Surprised by Spurs, with how they bottled it and capitulated at the end of the season I would have thought buying some experienced players would have been essential. Think Saints have had a shocker and can see this being the year that Sunderland and/or West Brom go down.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Am I the only one who doesn't rate Chelsea's window? bar Kante, they've not really addressed any of their major issues. David Luiz for 32 million is atrocious business. United have definitely had the best window in the league, Sunderland/Spurs have had the worst
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 Agree about Everton, Gueye was a real signing for them.
fuchsntf Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 No use discussing at present...we wont start to see how it all pans out until the turn of the year. Examples: Manu and Chelsea look to have done some shrewd business... Bournemouth clever/shrewd with Wilshere.Stoke, WBA not exciting.. Dont forget, the transfer market dealings are hype and media thoughts , nothing more. Hull or Everton could turn out to be the wisest. Then there will be minor and big time injuries....
surrifox Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 V surprised at Spurs paying the full £30 mill for Sissoko - levy must have been on leave that day . Can't see what their formation will look like this year with all the midfielders they've acquired
