davieG Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 Premier League champions Leicester City have signed former Chesham United midfielder Connor Wood. The 20 year old joined Chesham from Soham Town Rangers two years ago and made an instant impact at The Meadow, being voted Young Player of the Year in his one and only season. He left after just one year after winning through to the final squad of 23 in the Nike Academy Most Wanted Global showcase, meaning he would travel the world trying to earn a pro contract. Another year on he has done just that - earning a two-year deal with Claudio Ranieri's men, who took everyone by surprise by landing the Premier League crown last season. Wood's new team-mates: Leicester City Chesham manager Andy Leese told the club's website: "We are all delighted for Connor, who has really worked his way up in the game the hard way. As well as his obvious talent, he is a great lad off the pitch. Connor loved his time here, and I hope we played a part in his football education in his season with us." Wood was back at The Meadow on Saturday to watch his former team-mates hammer Saffron Walden Town 5-0 in the FA Cup first qualifying round. Dave Pearce bagged a brace as well as setting up one of two goals for Brad Wadkins, while Ryan Blake completed the scoring late on. The win set up an away tie against either Lewes or Sevenoaks, who replay on Wednesday night, in the second qualifying round on Saturday, September 17.
Guest NGoloMode Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 He's a left back with some clips on youtube. Don't know if it's just the clips in the video but looks very attack minded. Pacey and powerful.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 Looks like a Marc Albrighton style left back! Pacy, hard-runner but a find a yard and deliver a quality cross type of player.
dbtcity Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 Watched him v Man U under 23s and he was one of the best players on the park, reminded me a lot of Luke shaw
MC Prussian Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 We've signed the English equivalent of Ritchie De Laet. Only better.

FireFox Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 So is he Chris Wood, a left-footed Albrighton, De Laet, or Luke Shaw? I also thought we already had a young LB who was well rated? Callum Elder?
desertfox2 Posted 6 September 2016 Posted 6 September 2016 I like that we seem to be scouting everywhere. With the ridiculous transfer fees going about if we can uncover a couple of gems it's looking very good for us going forward.
foxy boxing Posted 6 September 2016 Posted 6 September 2016 we are scooping up players with potential whether they show enough of it is down to them and the coaching staff
sylofox Posted 6 September 2016 Posted 6 September 2016 Good job he did not sign for florets. They would not have seen the Wood for the trees.
