Report: Leicester star Christian Fuchs' future in doubt over contract dispute

Questions reportedly arising over Christian Fuchs’ future at Leicester City.

Leicester City's Christian Fuchs in action with Manchester United's Antonio Valencia

According to The Sun, Christian Fuchs’ future at Leicester City is in doubt after the defender was seemingly offered less than he was expecting on a new contract offer.

The report claims that Fuchs has been left a frustrated figure after seeing a number of teammates receive improved offers in the summer and he could be open to leaving in the January transfer window.

The Austrian international joined the Foxes from Schalke on a three-year deal in the summer of 2015, and he soon became a key first-team member playing 32Premier League matches last term.

In an astonishing season where Leicester won the title against the odds, Fuchs became the first Austrian to become a Premier League winner since Arsenal’s Alex Manninger in 1998.

However, as a number of players such as Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Simpson earned new deals with handsome raises, Fuchs was only offered a small rise.

The Sun say he could look to leave should he not be offered better terms, and a switch to a fellow Premier League side as early as this January hasn’t been ruled out.

The 30-year-old has started all five of Leicester’s Premier League games this season, and he played 90 minutes in the recent 3-0 Champions League win over Club Bruges in Belgium.

I think contract talks would have stalled because I doubt they even began.

We all know Fuchs' desire of going off to America when he's finished here to be with his family, I never saw him signing a new contract anyway.

Going nowhere.

He has made it clear he wants to leave at the end of this contract, so he was never going to be offered a new one, now does he want a few quid extra for the next year and a bit we don't know, but it's unlikely he will leave for another club.

He dd say he was off to the USA but with 2 years left on a pre-championship winning contract and seeing the likes of Simpson etc getting big increases I think it's not unbelievable to think he wants an improved 2 year deal.

What pisses me off most about that story and many others is the "won the title last season against the odds" Why the fvck do they have to keep printing that about us. Or do they use a template and fill in the blanks.

I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted a raise but not an extension to the contract. Surely there's a compromise to to be had here.

Also, no figures have been mentioned so what's 'small' in The Sun's eyes? Not £100,000 per week?

"According to The Sun"...!

That old chestnut

The only paper to tell more lies is the sport. But I guess some people still believed they had found a London double decker bus on the moon.

They saw he hadn't had a new contract and tried to manufacture a story. Unfortunately they weren't as clued up as the fans, we all know he's off to MLS after

He's on a 3yr deal, not even halfway through it....

So were most of the other players given big rises  part way through their contracts

I'm not even sure he wants MLS? I read he wants to be NFL kicker, now i'm not sure if it was a tongue in cheek comment or even whether it's possible/a realistic aim, I know nothing about the sport really.

Bearing in mind he's 29 (31 if he sees his contract out here), he might bypass MLS and go straight to the NFL route if as i've said its a genuine possibility/a realistic ambition.

Did anyone watch the NFL show after MOTD last night that he featured in?

I didn't because I have no interest in NFL whatsoever but just wondered if he made his desires clear in the show.

I think it was more he wants to live with his wife/kids who are in new York than as a good career move. I always thought he was joking with the NFL stuff.. now I'm not so sure

Oh of course it's to be with his wife and kids but it's handy that it works career wise aswell.
