Aus Fox Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 Thought the referee was outstanding tonight, best I've seen for a long time in Europe. The Lino got the offside call badly wrong, but the ref let the game flow and didn't buy into the play acting. A complete contrast to the Porto game.

They have a bit more quality than that, and have decent CL experience and results . We did well
Fox 4 Life Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 Simpson was immense tonight, defence looks so much more solid with him

lgfualol Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 This team are so bipolar. Great effort by all. Just want to see less POOR hoofing. Dont mind it if it actually reaches someone. Also think Ranieri might run Albrighton to the ground eventually, he looked really knackered after 70mins.
foxes21 Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 King's positioning was immense, especially when we are sitting deep.

As is said earlier, if they had any real goal scorer in that side they'd have gotten one back tonight at least. I think some people seem to think that because a team is in the Champions League it automatically makes them a 'top side' It doesn't...we've had now three pre match threads for three Champs League games where many posters have proposed that such and such a side are strong and we could well lose etc.. I've tried to say, 'no they arent'. Brugges are probably Championship standard at best, Porto are nothing like the Porto of old and Copenhagen are neat and tidy, but as you say, fielded tonight two bang average strikers. We've been very lucky that we were seeded AND given such a poor group. If we playing a side tonight like Monaco (just as an example) it would have probably been a different story. However, you can only beat what is put in front of you..and we did. So that should improve confidence in the team and I fancy us to get a result on Saturday. We weren't that lucky to get seeded, the Champions in the PL always do.. that isn't luck

Clever Fox Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 Great result and performance from many of our players. back to our dogged determined game plan and deserved to win. Great to see us pass the Ball second half, Something we're clearly working on to improve. On to the league now.

I'll prove you wrong actually, King was very good tonight and I just wish he did it more often. Would try him again on Saturday and see how we do.
Dames Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 The 'quick ball over the top' has basically become an aimless hoof and makes us so predictable and easy to defend against. The team need to start mixing it up as I feel we look far more dangerous when we are playing one touch clever football (which they are very capable of doing). That being said a win will boost the confidence of the players but Ranieri has to stop relying on what worked last season and mix it up a bit.

Saying I don't think a player is good enough to play week in week out in the Premiership League is a million miles from some of what I was reading in the match thread. I think this house is secure enough.

If you consider that a glass half empty post, you ain't reading what I'm writing. The sides we have played in the Champions League, despite the genuine doom merchants saying they'd beat us (I had us to win every one) are not top sides in any sense of the word.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 100% win record in the CL, no goals conceded, this European business is quite easy.
foxes21 Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 Copenhagen played into our hands imo They played quite a high line, their tactic was to get it to the wingers and cross the ball in - which is what we want teams to do.

Let's not get carried away, Amartey had a good game against Porto, and fans were bum licking his rim. Copenhagen played 442, so we could match them like for like. However King was good today and deserves his chance on Saturday. I hope he can prove me wrong, but I feel he will be lacking!!
