Brugges are probably Championship standard at best, Porto are nothing like the Porto of old and Copenhagen are neat and tidy, but as you say, fielded tonight two bang average strikers. We've been very lucky that we were seeded AND given such a poor group. If we playing a side tonight like Monaco (just as an example) it would have probably been a different story. However, you can only beat what is put in front of you..and we did. So that should improve confidence in the team and I fancy us to get a result on Saturday. We earnt the right to be the CL, we earnt the right to get this group..because we earnt to be in the pot.. Those 3 teams have CL history...we dont. .sorry Col,1st time for me....get off that Physcological crap. It proves nothing, you wont even get the post saved.... We have won 3 CL games, Thats history!!!! ...what has your mind been trying to achieve in the weeks gone by. Success highs reached, more than many other CL regulars only dream of. Callabinho Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 Poor game overall. Pretty drab performance too....kept hopelessly lofting the ball up to the two front with no real product. They were fairly tidy without being really effective, but I agree that if they had a quality player up top they probably would have bagged at least one tonight. I think the win papers over a few cracks, I thought we were too static again and they found space at times far too easily behind our back four. I think their style suited us nicely to be fair, they were fairly slow in their build up but a better team would've beaten us. Palace will be tough one at the weekend, improvement needed.

Monk Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 Delighted with the result, if our distribution had been better we would have won by more. Thought positionally we were excellent, and we defended well enough but made mistakes that would have been punished by a better side. Copenhagen played a bizarrely high line for much of the game, leading to many offsides, - shame we couldn't exploit it more. My main criticism would be the long balls and generally poor distribution all round. The main culprits were the back 4, thumping it up steve Walsh style every single time, and also felt we looked sluggish on the break. But hey - fantastic result and man I love nighttime games!

kingfox Posted 18 October 2016 Posted 18 October 2016 A wins a win but that performance was garbage. First 40 minutes were awful, get the ball, lump it up field and hope for the best. The ball came to Vardy & Slimani a few times, but the majority of balls were won by the Copenhagen defenders. Second half was a bit better in terms of ball movement, but still it was pretty boring. Schmeichel saved our arse, King & Simpson I thought had decent games. Albrighton needs to be dropped, one good cross for Slimani's disallowed goal and that was it. A win, a clean sheet but our overall performances must get better.
