Nick Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 You can only play who is put in front of you and we damn well earned that group and the seeding! Ask Spurs fans this morning about performing in the second easiest group.... We did it with a game to spare and will be putting the B team and kids out in Porto - that's hilarious. And if we don't draw a Spanish team in the last 16 I think we can make it to the last 8. And then anything is possible - imagine the players getting their 1 shot at immortality.... We know that dreams can come true. Ridiculous Jeff.
Ric Flair Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 It was a very peculiar game last night. We had so much possession in the first half and it highlighted our lack of movement in a 4-4-2 with Huth and Morgan so bad at passing out of defence. But it still gave us enough chances to be in complete control, it was just slightly frustrating to see this group of players slightly limited once again. 2nd half we started like a train again and then they nicked a goal and the game was wide open. We looked fast and dangerous and Vardy's goal was ruled out which looked onside to me. After that we were chasing shadows and looked like an away team bang under pressure. We couldn't keep hold of the ball and it again highlighted our lack of a spark. Gray ay had two very good chances to increase our goal tally which in a way would have covered over the previous 25 minutes but it was indeed a weird game where we were the good, the bad, the ugly. Buzzing we are through. Fuchs was colossal last night.
ARM1968 Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Well the CL elephant has now moved out of the room. Even I have been saying to my family and friends that I believe our main priority has been the Champions League. That might be deluded but it's something to hang on to. Now we have to sort our league form out and im not sure we can. How players go from League champs to also ran chumps in a few months is beyond me. I just cannot accept this dip in League form is anything other than mental, not truly believing in themselves. Hopefully our belief will return and some results will start going our way, although we will have to fight for that like last year. I believe we can get ourselves into mid table, but we are not too good to be relegated.
Ric Flair Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 I think you'll struggle to find a worse central midfield partnership than Andy King and Daniel Amartey. The next 3 games are massive in our season. We need to grind out a couple of results otherwise we are sucked in to it and could find it hard to get out. Harvey Barnes.

And I kinda rate CSKA a bit higher than Brugge. Edit: You still can draw Dortmund, PSG, City, Napoli or even Bayern. I wouldn't brush those aside so easily. Not in the current form.

We werent Dire, we played good football, not forgetting their defending around their own box was solid, but we ripped them off more than twice, and got round them more than they did us. We hit nervous periods, late on we lost the midfield, but still had good movement that might or should of also gave us 2 other goals. Posters are too critical, and busy chasing negatives.. ...........THEY FORGET..THIS WAS WITH NO EXCEPTION, OUR BEST NIGHT IN OUR WHOLE ...132yr HISTORY Ya that's a fair comment I'm still very concerned about huge parts of last night but today we can rejoice

We can't draw another PL team in the next round. And don't exclude Besiktas yet. Real Madrid are also still a possibility.

If we win 2 out of 3 we'd be sound again for up to a month.

Playing the turks away is also really difficult. That's a lot of big sharks. With the last year's form I'd have said anything is possible, even win it. Right now, we worry about a game against Boro. So...
RumbleFox Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 I've decided, I never want us to get rid of Jeff. Ever. I'll miss the mixture of excitement and confusion every time he gets the ball. I love him, he is what football is all about. On a side note, I think the Drinky/King/Amartey midfield 3 is actually the way to go. Good result, hope we get an exciting draw. Rumble. X

dannythefox Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Good first half, very poor second Okazaki has to start Saturday. If we play like that though we'll struggle to get anything out the game.
GaelicFox Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Want Arsenal and Man City to finish 2nd and then we have a narrow field of just 5 teams to be drawn against i suspect they will be besiktas bayern Munich byer lavertoryscusen Dortmund seville looks like a german team to me ....
tyfox Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Please be besiktas. Although they will be a very tough team to beat I think they are the "easier" of the teams

We absolutely must go back to that high energy pressing game Don't think the players are fit enough/we have a big enough squad to do this every week like we did last season.
Ricey Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Such an odd match. Only the Leicester City of this season could have me talking at HT about getting 4 or 5 and using it as a morale booster against absolutely crap opposition, then proceed to grind out a close, nervy second half. Still, an amazing feeling to have the group sealed with an away game to spare. It was interesting to see how Brugge dealt with us. Mahrez had space to move inside, Drinkwater had space to create, Albrighton was allowed to cut inside on his right foot. Did they even watch the West Brom and Watford matches? We won't get those luxuries in any other match for the rest of season. We need to add another string to our bow and become less predictable.
