A fai argument, but if Boro sit back and let us have the ball pace going forward might not be that vital. Okazaki & Ulloa both have good movement off the ball, so I'm sure they'll cause them problems.

Why would they sit back. We are not and have never been a possession team so why try that now when we really need a win?

Same people moaning about us playing two in midfield all season are now moaning because he's switched it to three and they've realised they don't like how it looks lol

Damned if you do, damned if you don't

Hilarious isn't it. I've been saying all season we don't have the players to play a 3 man midfield. Even when Ndidi comes, I'll stick to that statement. We are built to play 4-4-2/4-4-1-1, but lets hope we get a win today.

And I thought Mendy was short.....

He's standing on a box.

Possibly could be 4-1-3-2  with Amartey playing in front of back four with Mendy and King able to get forward and mahrez just in behind the front two or even out wide if required??

Concerned about the lack of any pace though.

After 2 decent performances recently I feel sorry for Chilwell losing his place despite being a big Fuchs fan.

I was excited for this but after seeing the team im not so sure we'll get anything!

my only concern with this line up, is King and Amartey are sideways/backwards passing midfielders. Amartey less so than King, but if this formation is to work we need to get the ball to Ulloa quickly so he can hold the ball and then Okazaki/Mahrez can play off him.

Mendy is a very good passer.

Definite cause for concern, but didn't we buy Mendy for his passing?

Let's hope he proves that right today.

Sorry but I am not impressed. Other than injury/llness we should be trying to tap into the last games momentum. None of them should be exhausted as they've all had breaks. We have utterly dropped gear there and will likely hand initiative to Boro.

Sorry, but hand the initiative to Boro? The same Boro who have also made 5 changes?

The changes we have made have largely been forced; Drinkwater and Slimani injured. Fuchs taking his place back from a youngster that perhaps isn't ready for 2 games in 48 hours.

We have said all year that King and Amartey shouldn't play in a 2 away from home, so he brings in Mendy to play in a three.

Would have preferred Musa to Ulloa to offer some pace but Ulloa has done ok in his cameos.

Fixture list is a joke though, so many changes going to be made today from all teams. I like Christmas football but do we really need to play today?

Just seen the side, only concern is we're playing Ulloa upfront but with no width? I think a lot is going to fall on Mahrez today needing to drift and get balls into the box.

How come Drinky and Slim is out the squad?

I certainly agree that packing the midfield has been called for endless times this season. I just can't understand why now he changes formation on the back of a win and momentum.

Unusual line up, should still be enough to beat these

He keeps the ball but got almost no assists previously. He's a sit deep and tick things over player. Him deep and the others further forward would be better.

Not sure if anyone noticed but Ranieri did say after the West Ham game that we needed point at Middlesbrough, not sure if that was just because English is not his first language or he actually meant a point? This selection does suggest we will be playing for a draw?

I hope Slims fever can keep him out of AFCON.

Hope we don't go out with this attitude, they were the better side down here, and not a poor side by any means.

I think if we had played the same team and looked a little of the pace a lot of people would've questioned the decision not to freshen things up. Hopefully the players coming in are up for it and have something to prove, have a feeling we will see musa and gray for at least 30-45 mins by which time you'd hope we are very much in the game...
