katieakita Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 By all accounts he got some stick aimed at him yesterday Why? I suppose you could say he signed a new contract then moved on very quickly but if you were offered a job where you could relocate to be near your roots and family a higher position and probably a pay rise and golden hello as you head towards retirement would you say no? The guy had a massive input in taking us from Championship nearly men into Premier league winners, look at the value of the squad inherited by NP on his return which with wages was probably negative and compare it to the current squads value and he has been part of something truly miraculous in sporting terms. Also does his name actually help that much now with scouting because as soon as he is linked with a player do you really think the clubs and agents of these players are not suddenly contacting any potential suitors and pointing out their players have got to be good because Walshy Snr has scouted them and then the money and wages start shooting up. Cannot believe he was solely responsible for our scouting network and that there would not be a big infrastructure in place to scout players over quite some time going forward. If i ever met the guy I would shake his hand thank him for giving me happy memories i will never forget and buy him a drink. Perhaps i am old fashioned but the guy deserves our greatest respect after helping create something that was so so special so why boo him?
tom27111 Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 The most stick he got yesterday was from Ronald Koeman.
katieakita Posted 8 January 2017 Author Posted 8 January 2017 Thought it was posted on here people were singing Stevie Walsh what a w8nker what a w8nker unless was the Everton fans or people abusing our Derby slayer
VLC86 Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 I didn't hear any of that so you can imagine it was one or two people with short memories. As mentioned above I'm sure he was more concerned with the comments from Koeman who seams pretty unhappy he hasn't signed a few more players yet.
TheSomersetFox Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Anything aimed at Walsh would obviously be a joke
Sharpe's Fox Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Everton fans are complete ****** and think they should be competing with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea ect. for signings so it's difficult for Walshy to get a gem in. Plus their owner seems like a complete fraud and he can't even compete to sign dog arse players like Sissoko. Walsh should have stayed here where he is trusted to bring in a player he thinks will develop.
Tuna Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Interesting that Koeman is unhappy with the amount of time it's taking to secure transfers. He made the comment that 'That's Steve Walsh's job'. We always seemed to be slow to complete deals or at least that is the impression. Ndidi comes in for us on January the 1st, wheras Everton are still struggling to complete the Schneiderlin deal.

Just heard Koeman's press conference and he doesn't seem overly impressed with Walsh. Comments like "if everybody opened their eyes we'd get further" and that he and the board have spoken at improving the squad but its Steve Walsh's job to "get what the team needs." Koeman wasn't impressed with Walsh in the summer either and he's putting him under pressure by name checking him.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Didn't hear anything from the away fans aimed at Walsh, I'd like to think all have nothing but respect for the man and the success he brought to the club.
foxes21 Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Everton and Koeman are lucky to have someone like Walsh.
katieakita Posted 8 January 2017 Author Posted 8 January 2017 Well if Koeman is that unimpressed with him maybe we should try a cheeky bid to bring him back as a consultant
AjcW Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 I have a feeling Koemen is having regrets and is desperately trying to get the attention of Barcelona who will be changing their manager at the end of the season. Not that he deserves it mind but they do love an ex player there.

Whenever Walsh was here under Nige or Claudio the manager would always take responsibility when things aren't going well and point out out its a team effort behind the scenes when it was. For Koeman to call people out when they don't have a platform to defend themselves every week like he does is a sly move. Something I am grateful for when supporting Leicester over the last few years is that the manager has been always been a nice bloke and not a cvnt like Koeman
VLC86 Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Funny how people slag him off for scrimping on the odd million here and there when you look at some of the signings we made with that odd million here.

It was Rudkin & Neville's job to secure the transfers here and it still is as far as I understand it. Walsh was the head scout, not the Director of Football. He found the players but I doubt he secured the deals.

Stevosevic Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Wouldn't be surprised if his time at Everton is short lived.
dedlock Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Who knows what set up Steve Walsh operates in at Everton. I,like most, was sad see him leave after what he had achieved at LCFC. Its was more than player recruitment, he was part of a team that radically shook up our backroom support. Our loss appeared to be Everton's gain but it may be the grass is not always greener elsewhere.

Do one mate this is the sort of shit that people come out with because they can't look past anything more than DM headline. Anyone who comes into contact with him has always said he's a funny and engaging bloke. Wise up.
