Regarding the Hungarian dude v cov his mate joins a few weeks later on a loan deal also. We got relegated and they went back to their clubs with no permanent deal possible.

They both made their debut against Cov.

Have people mentioned Sol Bamba vs Manchester City? Scored pretty early on as well.

From Sunderland at home of 2015 season start I genuinely thought Okazaki looked class. Stand out player for me that day and he didn't even score

Very good shout this. The team were excellent that day but Okazaki particularly stood out. Looked like he had that real air of class about him. Looked up to the standard of football.

Ryan Smith looked good to start, especially against the sheep but he gradually declined and his career seemed to go down the toilet after he left us.

In recent times, Oakley and Lazcko did very well in the Coventry game

Cant remember the opponent but im pretty sure Marcus Bent had a good debut game for us

Sir Les Ferdinand. Came on as a sub, scored a bullet header from 18 yards within 10 minutes, knocked himself out as he took about 3 defenders out, and went off again! Quality.

Also recall seeing Richard Stearman belie his years when he made his debut against Reading at about 17. To be fair, he wasn't a bad player for us; kind of a let down the way he left but I don't think he ever really fulfilled his potential.

Just saw him on MOTD and it reminded me of this.

Joe Dodoo bagged a hat trick and an assist against Bury in the League Cup in 2015. Managed to get on to the pitch in a PL match thanks to that performance.

Matt Jones - Taylor wasted about £3 million on him but he looked like a world beater in his first game

Was gonna say him. 3-1 against Charlton wasn't it?

Joe Waters - two goals against QPR in the FA Cup quarter final in 1974:

Mark Bright - two goals against Everton at Filbert Street in 1985. Lineker was playing his first game for the Toffees. Chants of 'what a waste of money' directed at Gaz from the lads in PEN3!

Two great goals from Mark Bright versus Everton, but it wasn't his debut. He had played the previous season.

Before my time, but I've heard numerous times how good Kevin Campbell was on his.

Off the top of my head, Ulloa scored and had a good impact. Mahrez was very impressive in his sub appearance. Collymore's home debut wasn't bad.

Probably the best loan singing we ever made..

In fact part of the agreement in signing him on loan was that we agreed not to make an offer for him ( and unsettle him) but we did anyway!!

Didn't Mark Yeates score on his debut when we drew with Luton when they had Newell in charge?

Yeah. If I recall correctly it was a 1-1 draw.

I think it was the Sheffield United game where he looked so so good. Not sure what happened with him, think he went to America via Millwall.

Gelson Fernandes at Cov- looked every bit an international player, bossed the midfield. I can remember the massively over-inflated sense of optimism as we left the Ricoh that day...
