A 32 year old centre back? We definitely need more aging centre backs in our squad.

Whilst we need to look to the future, I'm not against a short term stop gap until the summer. As long he's half decent with the ball at his feet then thats progress.

I've known the name for ages but never really followed how good he is.

I get what everyone is saying.... But if you get priced out of a move, the wages are two high or the player doesnt want to come... then what should Ranieri do?

Would you prefer him to Have Hernandez as the back up option?

Reports in Italy say we're going after him after dropping out of signing Acerbi

Translates as :

RENEWAL GONZALO RODRIGUEZ LEICESTER /  There are only  Kalinic  and  Badelj  to shake the sleep of purple fans. Thanks a renovation that did not arrive,  Gonzalo Rodriguez  is likely to become a case of the transfer market Fiorentina . Out of contract in June, the Argentine defender has become a very attractive prey for many clubs that need major reinforcement in the rear package. In Italy,  Inter  and  AC Milan  are very difficult times in the footsteps of the former  Villarreal , but the homegrown teams should also protect themselves from foreign competition. In France, for example,  Marseille  is monitoring different profiles in that role, but the greatest danger could come from the Premier League.

Renewal Gonzalo Rodriguez, check the Leicester

Having made several vain attempts to Francesco Acerbi , Claudio  Ranieri  has decided to tack on other objectives and, according to information in possession of Calciomercato.it , has entered on your notebook also the name of Gonzalo, lured by the prospect of getting a reinforcement of cheap quality. Home  Chelsea , the first choice is represented by Virgil van Dijk . A competitor in more, then, for the Italian teams, although Inter have already had more than one contact with the agent of the defender.

We definitely need reinforcements in the rear package...

If we can't get any of our younger defensive targets then I'd be more than happy with this chap in the interim. Ok, he's not going to come here for 6 months but he is a massive improvement on pretty much every centre half we have.

We are premier league champions, in the last 16 of Champions league and playing in the richest league in the world. If there is a player we really want we should not be being priced out of it within reason. I'm not talking about the Chinese etc but within reason, we should be able to compete with practically anyone in europe. Aside from say, the top few sides in the big leagues. It's not being unrealistic to want better than another 32-year-old CB.

Hernandez was deemed good enough back up to sign him in the first place. If he isn't good enough and I don't think he is then again it's another poor signing regardless of the cost.

Are we trying to be top of the league in the oldest average age category of CB? Was is almost 37 Morgan is 33 this month Huth is 32 and Rodriguez is 33 in April

This must be BS and if it isn't then wtf? How are we over halfway through the transfer window without having anyone lined up? It's not like we have suddenly become poor we have under-performed in the prem for the whole season so far. Unless there is something going on behind the scenes that we don't know aside from the tenuous links to Sakho & Nastasic then someone has been sleeping on the job and I hate to say it but I am really starting to worry about our football club. The recent recruitment is like Sven business. Really hope Ranieri pulls a rabbit out of the hat and quickly and that it's just a case of us keeping our dealings close to our chest. I love Ranieri and hope he sorts this out because so far our transfer business has been very, very poor. way, way more misses than hits.

All these rumours depress me,Sakho is the only decent player we've been linked with.

I said the same a couple of days ago

the constant links to players who have never played in the prem is irritating to say the least.

The extended contracts we handed out was reported as taking away 30 million of that... plus the 30 million on Slimani, the 16 million on Musa.. 18 million  on ndidi... it all adds up and then we have the FFP to consider - we still dont have the fanbase of a big club to drive up revenue - we just cant spend any amount of money we want to..

But the reality is that people know we have maybe one more round of the champions league and next season we probably wont be in Europe at all.. Its hard to get people to commit to a 5 year deal with that in mind...

 obligatory YouTube video

Looks as though his entire showreel is pass, pass, pass. Does he ever tackle? (Should he not sign for Man City then?)

Joking aside, he looks damn confident on the ball, and you can see that he would distribute pretty nicely to our wingers would he sign.
