Sorry, not sure what you mean by this?

You said that you dont care how good someone is, we need them long term - i was simply implying that  someone can do wonders for us , even if they are just here for a season or two...

Ah I see your point. I don't disagree but not sure this bloke would have the same effect has Kante. And surely Kante was signed with the intent of him staying longer than one season? Not trying to be a dick but just feel we need someone to nail down that CB spot for a good few years ideally

You are right. But if your original, younger, targets are unobtainable ( for whatever reason) do you then go for someone of lesser skill who can be here for 5 years, or someone  who is higher skill than the younger person and who can be a regular for 2-3 years before his legs start to go?

Are all these rumours now just based on players who might be available from the Fiorentina V Sassuolo game that we happened to send our chief scout to? lollol

 obligatory YouTube video

He's phenomenal on the ball.  Technically gifted and doesn't get a brain freeze like our defenders do with the ball.

If only he was just 3 years younger.

Totally agree. Some of those passes to their right winger (Bernardeschi? Who has a touch a of the Mahrez's about him) we immense. If we had a centre back that could control the ball, look up and pass it, I would have an absolute lob on for the rest of the season. He's gotta defend too.

Not too concerned about his age as we are not looking for Mr Right, but Mr Right now.

Not in it for a long time, just in it for a good time.

A 32 year old centre back? We definitely need more aging centre backs in our squad.

Gonzalo Rodriguez is about twice as fast and mobile as Huth and Morgan combined.

But I see your point, it is duly noted.

zzz Premier League Champions and we are targeting players like this! Fs

Yeah, shame Piqué is such a wuss. Why sticking around in a hellhole like Barcelona! FFS

I get the point on age but if you haven't seen him play and don't watch him regularly how can some fans be so negative - for the record excellent defender, superb against Juve on Sunday - could do a solid job for two seasons and to be honest that's more than we can say for the majority of our recent signings!

This guy is Peter Rodrigues older brother - yes?.  We need youth, speed and mobility and a player that can play CB for years ahead..  I do not think we are scraping the barrel now, more a case of taking a power sander to it.. Next.

That video is impressive. If it was purely based on his ball-playing ability and self-assurance, then hells yeah we should get him in. Looks quite mobile too.

However, I do get why people are concerned about his age - especially as Italian defenders don't always seem to settle that well in the PL.

If we could sign him AND a young centre back though...

He's an Argentian that's played in Argentina, La Liga and Serie A. Very different to an Italian who's just played in Serie A

The Cambiasso example goes without saying Roy, but again, it's defenders that don't necessarily necessarily travel well from Serie A, despite playing well in that league. You're right though, I mispoke! I meant defenders from the Italian leagues, not defenders of Italian nationality. My bad :)

Completely agree that Italians that have only played in Italy are risky (Acerbi), but this guy did 8 years in La Liga before playing in Serie A, I'm confident he'd adapt quickly.

Wouldn't mind this.... but it's not a long term solution....but relegation is a short term problem and this nasty little p155 taker is perhaps what's needed. Estaban Cambiasso is 36 now and me and many others would like to see him still turning out for us.

Honestly id prefer an experienced CB over a young CB. Yes a young CB has better potential, but they make mistakes in the short term. This season is all about the short term targets: survival & the champions league.
