Normally sacking a manager and appointing the assistant manager is disastrous like when Wolves binned off Mick McCarthy but does anyone reckon he'd be worth go as a caretaker manager? I feel he'd at least return an element of discipline that we've been sorely lacking.

No, no and no! For me Claudio stays unless we have an alternative lined up. But thanks for the post Craig.

It literally can't get any worse performance wise

I don't understand how he'd bring an element of discipline? He's assistant currently and in the dressing room every week- so wouldn't make any difference surely

I am in no way advocating for this.

But it's not always the case tho'. I give you exhibit A the 2016 MLS cup Champions Seattle Sounders. We were horrible the first half of the season languishing at the bottom of the table in 9th place out of 10 and in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in our 8 years in the league. So much so that I couldn't watch them for a few games. Then they parted ways with head coach Sigi Schmidt in July, the middle of the season and appointed long time Sounders assistant coach Brian Schmetzer as interim manager.

And the rest as they say is history. http://www.espnfc.us/major-league-soccer/19/blog/post/3016977/brian-schmetzer-helps-seattle-sounders-overcome-adversity-to-win-mls-cup

Oh what a year it was for me.

That made me laugh and I needed that as I'm watching the Steelers get trounced. Thanx.

Only a little over a month away from the season opener. Good luck to you guy's this year.

Last year was the year for us and we let it go. Condolences on being trounced.

As for shakey, he is not the answer for us if ranieri was sacked

I'm not actually advocating we sack Ranieri and bring in Shakespeare but if he was picking the side and taking training I feel our performances wouldn't be anywhere near as poor as they are

He took the plaudits last and previous seasons and rightly so.

Claudio is taking all the flack, I'm more concerned with his previously influential backroom staff.

Are they happy with things? Don't know better? Haven't got the balls to speak up? Or Claudio doesn't listen?

After yesterday's comedy of errors it's hard to contemplate that come May we might be saying all's well that ends well.

Time for a coffee and a hamlet. Hopefully we'll win two or three games soon and this will be see as much ado about nothing.

Shakey has an important role to play if we are to stay up- he needs to draw on his experience from our last relegation battle and get a similar reaction from the players.

He's not a manager though (yet). Way too much of a gamble if Ranieri does leave.
