Why do we always leave it til the last minute?

Every transfer window we always seem to leave it til the last few minutes, most of the time missing out on quality signings often then going for players with well over inflated prices?

It's so frustrating as fans we can see what needs changing for instance Morgan and Huth are not the same as last year and have been more of a hinderance with the continual mistakes that they keep making, and our lack of quality finishing whereas last season we were clinical to the point of quality scoring amazing goals winning with such ease!

We as fans can't really have a say in our signings but we keep our faith in those who do,so let's hope those who do choose the right players in positions where we are struggling do us proud and get us back to our winning ways  and get us climbing back up that bloody table to keep our grey hairs at bay worrying about being so close to the relegation Zone !!

Because the selling clubs know that  the longer they drag out any deal the higher the price will go and it's not just us that's  why you see loads of last minute deals completed and collapsing.

I have a theory, and am not even joking. You know the saying " anything is better than nothing" and "better late than never". When you are desperate, even Gaston ramiraz will look like the next xavi. Maybe the club knows that they can't get quality players so, they delay the move to the last few day so the player will be more welcomed and the fans more satisfied because they at least got a new player

Because it really wouldn't be Leicester if we didn't. the last few years have been a roller coaster ups and downs and we've had the up last season. so what comes next!. it's never dull being a Leicester fan as there is always something (good or bad) happening. it could be worse at least we don't support a boring team!.we leave things to the last minute to get deals done because other teams will invariably stall for more money or the player we want wants a better contract

To be fair, no one defender can single handidly fix our current defensive frailty. Not unless they have Jedi powers to control the other 'useless' 3.

The training pitch and sports psychologist is the solution to the defence. The attack - feck knows about that one!!!

Every club moan about this. Fans of Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Everton, West Brom and Swansea all moan that their club always leave business til the last minute.

THE LAW OF BARGAINING
RUSSELL KOROBKIN,* MICHAEL MOFFITT,** & NANCY WELSHt
Negotiation is often compared to poker. This analogy is apt in two related
respects. First, poker players and negotiators both sometimes perceive
opportunities to deceive or exploit their counterparts in ways that produce a
distributive advantage. Indeed, lies, bluffs, false signals, and manipulation
occupy a significant place in the repertoires of some negotiators. Second, the
ability of both negotiators and poker players to deceive and exploit is
constrained by rules governing behavior.

Real life isn't like Football Manager where a deal is done with a few clicks. Unless a player has a release clause and we are willing to pay it, there is a cat-and-mouse dance where clubs negotiate to get a price they are willing to pay, and the selling club likely won't sell unless they can get a replacement lined up.

This window we were one of the very first clubs in Europe to announce a major signing with the Ndidi deal. Only PSG beat us with their signing of Draxler. However, we without doubt paid a premium price for Ndidi, believing that he was worth the money and we shouldn't mess around with the deal. So compared to the previous window, there has been some improvement.

By all accounts Acerbici of Sassullo was our #1 centre-back choice, but that club has refused to enter negotiations at all. The Ramirez one is interesting, and likely a result of the club believing we could prise him away due to some inside information. Has Boro signed Bojan or Jese we probably would have got him, but they didn't and we haven't.

I don't want to defend the club, because we will look back at our post title win and rue the day that we made several poor signing despite having the most clout in the history of our club. You can only imagine what a team with Adrien Silva, Michael Keane et all would have done. Barring Slimani, you couldn't say that any signing we've made has really pushed the club on.

We seem to look for bargains in the wrong places- rival PL teams, Serie A, etc.

Not sure why we haven't just scoured France for the next big thing- there's plenty of value in their market, as we've experienced first-hand.

Exactly. Mahrez Kante and Knocky before. We've done well out of France in the past. The players are there for the prices we seem willing to pay.

Championship clubs paying up to £15 million for strikers and we wont break the bank to replace a centre back preferably Morgan.

Wondering if replacing Morgan or Huth was ever in question by the club. They've both been poor, but it seems the players are bigger than the club nowadays and one of the two might cause some unrest.

Same as nearly every other team I'm afraid. Yes, there are some deals done earlier (N'didi), but majority of clubs and us, are all pushed until the final day by other clubs and agents, either because they don't want to sell or because they want more money and the closer you get to the window closing, the more desperate and better deal they can get.

Rudkin gets paid by how many people he can trigger a transfer window

I heard he got paid per page on the FT transfer section.

Bonus pay for 100 page threads.

I dont think the original poster is accurate.

If memory serves we got most of our business done really early and I was delighted we were getting our business wrapped up. A few last min deals have been pushed through like Slimani and trying to get his team mate Silva.

In defence of the club, they didnt really want Hernandez go and dont want Ulloa to go. These last minute deals arent usually our style and thats probably because we seem to like doing a thorough due diligence process.

I dreamt of exciting transfer deadlines under Pearson but this is down right pathetic and depressing.

The powers that be at this club have a lot to answer for.

And if the rumours of Pearson and Rudkin not getting on were true I can fully see why.
