From what I read at the time, NP went in and wanted to get rid of a lot of the shit that has bottled the playoffs for about 5 seasons in a row, but the senior players weren't having it. Basically downed tools and iirc cried to the owners.
Guest MattP Posted 26 February 2017 Share Posted 26 February 2017 I don't understand how anyone couldn't want him, every single year he was here we improved our league position from the last one. It's the closest thing to guaranteeing survival as you can get.

benpicko Posted 26 February 2017 Share Posted 26 February 2017 I reckon he'd keep us up and if he doesn't I can't think of anybody I'd want more than him in the Championship. Come back Nige lad

However with the way he was building our squad, I'd say we'd have finished in the top half & this year challenging for top 8 if he was still in charge. Every year there is clear progression with Pearson. Good post. I do feel under Pearson we could become established in the Premier League, and maybe even compete in the top half / top ten, which is what we should be aiming for. TheUltimateWinner Posted 26 February 2017 Share Posted 26 February 2017 I'd take him, They say never go back but last time he came back he won us the championship, got rid of the deadwood and ultimately kept us up in the premier league. If he's proven himself to do the two things we need right now before, why wouldn't you take him? Now my view may be biased as I do have a lot of admiration for the bloke, but still, compared to some of the other names out there, he is one of the better candidates. smr Posted 26 February 2017 Share Posted 26 February 2017 Anyone who thinks Pearson will come back clearly have no idea about Thailand people, their importance to image, culture, life and beliefs - fundamental deeply ingrained values which Pearson made a mockery of. He will never ever be manager of Leicester City again for that reason. Nothing to do with his ability as a football coach.

If that had've happened on it's own it *may* have been seen that way, but it was the final straw in a season of strange, disrespectful and bizarre incidents - McArthur there was no need for, the FO and die comment, the Ostrich comment was totally uncalled for as well... he's hardly the kind of guy the Thai owners we have want to be seen as an image for their football club / global brand / business etc.

smr Posted 26 February 2017 Share Posted 26 February 2017 This excerpt from the Telegraph puts it well: That said, the episode in Thailand was hardly the most glowing look for Pearson. On the one side were Far Eastern benefactors looking to turn a tour of their country by the team they had bankrolled into a laudable cultural exchange mission. On the other were the classic 'boys on tour', producing a piece of amateur pornography with extra lashings of bigotry. That is about the most glaring "difference in perspective" it is possible to conceive, and not one that reflects well on the iron discipline supposed to have been one of Pearson's few redeeming qualities. Footballers' orgies on official business might have been de rigueur in George Best's pre-cameraphone day, but not when you are wearing a club jersey advertising the Thai tourist board. Where Pearson is concerned, though, it pays to recall the wisdom that it is the last straw that breaks the camel's back. He has been let go not as a direct consequence of Pearson Jnr's excursion to a Thai brothel but as punishment for his accumulated misdeeds. As Seneca once observed, "it is not the last drop that empties the water-clock, but all which has previously flowed out." With that said, as I've said, you're deluded as they come if you think they'd bring Pearson back into the fold now.

lgfualol Posted 26 February 2017 Share Posted 26 February 2017 Easy to say we improved every year with him because we were in a shit place anyway and gave him time. He hasn't got time now and without Walsh he looks clueless. Hence why nobody has touched him other than Derby. Not coming back anyway so why bother
