Guus Hiddink being lined up ?

No better than Claudio. Completely wrong appointment. We need someone who can freshen up the place not some old boy who'll stagnate it further.

If the decision to sack Claudio was taken well before the Seville match (after Swansea or Millwall ??) then surely the recruitment process should be well advanced. Targets will have been identified and sounded out so it should be just the contracts to be written and agreed.

That's right, isn't it

He's reportedly turn us down.

I don't think we approached him or he turned us down. He just said when asked about speculation that he is focused on Huddersfield promotion push.

He might be our first choice but I doubt we are his. We are probably his second choice, just after continued unemployment.

If he's on job seeker's allowance and turns down this offer i hope somebody reports him to the authorities.

Might be worth a punt in the summer as the 'long term' option.....Not sure he'd jump ship ATM!

Short term, as of now, I'd take Hiddink.....One thing he would get is respect from the players !

Would he though? I'm not certain about anything anymore. Is the tail wagging the dog? Personally, the only realistic person to have the players respect is probably Shakespeare. Mr. Wenger is likely to be available in the Summer. Would people be interested if that were an option, or is he a dinasour?

I'd be happy with Hiddink. Seems as solid an option as any.  And maybe the ideal guy for Shakespeare to learn from if he really fancies a dip into management.

Would Wenger really come here? No chance

Agreed, he is someone that all the players should instantly respect and should make a decent impact straight away.

At the time I didn't think Sven would come here. I'm in agreement with you, I don't for one minute think Wenger would come here, but as we are all aware, strange things sometimes happen in football.

The trouble is he'd want 20 years to build a team.

37 percentage win record with Chelsea yep that really inspiring, might as well line up his replacement for when we go down :(

Would a 37% win rate keep us up? With a few draws thrown in?

My biggest concern would be that he'd need time to evaluate his options, and may know quite little about our current predicament. Time is short, and the impact would need to be near-instant. In that respect Shakespeare, possibly Pearson, would have the edge. Perhaps Shakey could fill in the gaps in Hiddink's knowledge.

He's also got quite limited experience of relegation scraps, if any. I suppose taking over Chelsea in December, when dealing with their post-title blues, was very different to taking over Leicester in March. Benitez at Newcastle is proof of how a revered manager can fail to keep a side in the PL.

But I could easily see this working out, if he could be swayed.

I don't think it's right for us. I wouldn't mind Hiddink as an advisor on how things should be done but as a manager, is he really suited to the characters in our dressing room.

Uninspiring.

Also, I don't like these short term deals. Means the Manager is unlikely to give much of a fook about the outcome, they will be gone come the end of the season and paid for the privilege in any event.

That would get us 14-15 points out of the last 13 games.

but that was with Chelsea probably be lower with us

His record over 27 games was won 10 drew 11 and lost 6. If we say he has approximately half the games with Leicester, I,d take won 5' drew 5 and lost 3. 20 points would see us safe.
