bald reynard Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/feb/26/leicester-covet-reluctant-guus-hiddink-replace-claudio-ranieri The Guardian reporting that the club have lined up Hiddink as first choice. IF they persuade him to come back (on a contract to the end of the season) at 70 ! He said Chelsea would be his last job - but that could be to 'save face', as he didn't get the Chelsea job permanently. They say that Shaky will be offered it, if Hiddink can't be persuaded. Also, "the return of Pearson is unlikely, given the fundamental difference in perspective between him and the Club's Thai owners" !
Foxxed Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 I saw the word 'reluctant' and couldnt help but laugh.
Tielemans63 Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 He might be our first choice but I doubt we are his. We are probably his second choice, just after continued unemployment.
AKCJ Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 He's the one I want. Steady the ship until the summer then get someone in very early on and let them have a long and productive pre-season. This club has to get over the line, we need to be afloat come May.
Mendi Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 Hiddink would be a good choice. If Mancini doesn't want the job turn to Hiddink.
StanSP Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall if there's an interview between Hiddink and Rudkin!
LJS Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 Ideally I want to see a permanent appointment. I can't imagine Hiddink will show any interest.
Fox 4 Life Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 This would be perfect, hence why it won't happen.
dannythefox Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 Thing is he's always had top players. Can he do it with 7/8 average players on the pitch?
CosbehFox Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 http://m.goal.com/s/en/news/8/main/2017/02/26/33084552/conceicao-snubs-leicester-for-nantes-stay
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 I'd like Hiddink on a longer basis... just a shame he's 70

lcfcrinaldi Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 He is my first choice, very steady appointment and has experience at the top level, in bucket loads
CosbehFox Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 Just now, dannythefox said: I didn't realise either of them were every in a relegation fight? They were full of average players at a World Cup what did very well under Hiddink. He can manage an 'underdog' well
Ric Flair Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 This was exactly the same in 2015. Reluctant then and reluctant now, thankfully in 2015 it wasn't just a three month gig whereas this would be.
Max Power Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 Not going to get a good permanent appointment at this point in the season with the team looking bad. So a short term is needed to stabilise and he's probably the best of the bunch. Experienced and well respected. Keep us up and we have the summer to pick a top coach from a far wider pool.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 I wonder if Chelsea fans are having the "this season is largely because of Hiddink / Conte" debate
Karljohn Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 So a reluctant Hiddink is a better option than sticking with Claudio. We'll have Levein and Bassett on the shortlist next.
st albans fox Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 Unless he is short of a few bob I cannot see what is in it for him. what does he need the aggro for?
Koke Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 Some Chelsea fans dont rate him. They say he made bizarre team selections and tactics. They did go on an unbeaten run but half those games were draws.

Clever Fox Posted 26 February 2017 Posted 26 February 2017 I'm sure reluctant just means he wants another couple of million to come. As said he'd be a good short term appointment. I'd also consider Silva at Hull only on a 6 month contract with Hull aand has done a remarkable job so far.

Don't be daft, if this team pulls it's finger out it's far better than the others around us. All he has to do is keep us up, not get into the top 4 like Chelsea were aiming for. The hardest thing will be motivating the players because we have a first 11 that we know can perform if their head is right but they've been way below their best all season. If he can just use the tactics that served us well last season, make a few vital changes is personnel (the back 4 would be the main area to address, at least 2 regulars need dropping ASAP) and get them up for the fight, we will be ok. Unfortunately everyone is so badly out of form that it looks impossible right now for them to reach the required performance levels that they are capable of.
