Arriba Los Zorros Posted 27 February 2017 Posted 27 February 2017 No doubt he's a good manager, but I really think that appointing him is short-termism in its finest and that at his age, his heart and energy really wouldn't be in it.
foxy boxing Posted 27 February 2017 Posted 27 February 2017 Mr Interim himself, he'll be good for the short term until the end of the season but hasn't really been involved in relegation battles before! so don't know if he'll be able to motivate the players enough but has plenty of managerial experience just not getting out of trouble kind!
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 27 February 2017 Posted 27 February 2017 Great quote from Hiddink at Chelsea last season regarding the struggle ahead when he took over challenging players whether they had the stomach for battle: "If you don't have that desire, knock on my door and we'll talk - well talk briefly"

Matt Posted 27 February 2017 Posted 27 February 2017 I'm not against it but I'd rather have someone in with a view to next season, hard because it's all up in the air at the moment and we don't know what to prepare for but my 'issue' when we gave Ranieri the job was age and not the long term potential. Hiddink even more so. I know nothing in football is long term anymore, basically I think what I'm boiling down to is I'd rather it be a project, which we do need rebuilding certainly in the back room staff area.
reynard Posted 27 February 2017 Posted 27 February 2017 Wasn't he approached before Ranieri and turned us down?

We weren't playing champions league football before then, I like Hiddink but seriously do really want someone whose in there 70's! short term yes or maybe its worth to consider offering Hiddink the job short term with a view of director of football role with Shakespeare being lined up in the summer take over fully.
bald reynard Posted 1 March 2017 Author Posted 1 March 2017 Might not be just between Shaky and Woy:- http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/hiddink-wont-rule-out-interest-leicester-job My choice would be:- 1. Shaky 2. Guus Woy - Woy who ?

The person charged with finding a new manager (short term or long term) will offer hiddink a short term deal and then his own job afterwards ???????????? i know some have a dim view of Rudkin but he won't put himself out of a job
STUHILL Posted 1 March 2017 Posted 1 March 2017 Depending how we do against Hull, I think Hiddink for the remaining 11 games would be our best short-term fix. Happy to see he isn't ruling himself out. I thought he would to be honest, so as someone else said, give him enough financial incentive, and think we would get him. Whether he would want to stay after that, is another question. That might suit us though, as I think most of us would like to have a more long-term appointment, so we can have a rebuild and plan in place. If we smash Hull though, then Shakespeare should absolutely be top of the list.
Bazly Posted 1 March 2017 Posted 1 March 2017 He is teasing us - told a Dutch paper he hasn't been approached but could be interested if he is. Quote I think Leicester have done very well by going with the assistant manager after Ranieri’s dismissal,’ he told De Telegraaf. ‘They proved themselves against Liverpool. I have no had contact with Leicester. ‘I have so much love for football that I do not exclude it. I never go to a club for several years, but I think it’s great to be working with young people.’
mozartfox Posted 1 March 2017 Posted 1 March 2017 If we slap Dull, give it to Shakey - no brainer ...... Even Rudders should work that one out... Shouldn't he???
AS78UK Posted 1 March 2017 Posted 1 March 2017 Shakespeare figures out how to play when the opposition defend deep, then he should get the hob short - term. If we fail against Hull, I would be all over hiddink. Personally still like Warburton and Rowett, if Shakespeare doesn't get it.
Tuna Posted 2 March 2017 Posted 2 March 2017 Guus Hiddink refuses to rule out Leicester post as Dutchman says: 'I've had no contact but I do not exclude it' Guus Hiddink insists he has no had any contact over the Leicester City vacancy Dutchman claimed that he could not 'exclude' the possibility of taking the job 70-year-old says his love for game means he will not rule out a return to England Roy Hodgson has held talks but Craig Shakespeare remains in caretaker charge Guus Hiddink says he has had no contact with the Leicester City owners over the current managerial vacancy at the King Power Stadium, but he refused to rule out the possibility of taking over the Foxes. Sportsmail reported on Tuesday that Roy Hodgson held secret talks with owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who is a long-term admirer of the former England manager. Former Chelsea boss Hiddink is among the candidates being touted for another short-term firefighting mission at the Midlands club, but the 70-year-old remains coy on his future. 'I have no had contact with Leicester,' said in an interview with Dutch daily newspaper De Telegraaf. The Dutchman was approached in 2015 before Claudio Ranieri got the gig, but his knowledge could prove valuable both at the foot of the Premier League and should progress be made in the Champions League. Former manager Nigel Pearson has also been linked with the vacancy, but Leicester made the perfect start to life after Claudio Ranieri by recording a 3-1 win over Liverpool on Monday under caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare. The interim boss is set to be in charge once more for the visit of Hull in the Premier League on Saturday and he remains in pole position as Leicester continue their search for Ranieri's successor. Another victory over the Tigers would steer Leicester further away from relegation danger, and could lead to Shakespeare being handed the reins until the end of the season. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4273468/Guus-Hiddink-refuses-rule-Leicester-post.html
WigstonWanderer Posted 2 March 2017 Posted 2 March 2017 Really hope they give Shaky every opportunity to secure the position until the end of season at least. I don't think any outsiders are likely to do better in the circumstances.
