I know it's daft given all that's happened since, but I still can't bring myself to watch that clip!

The injustice still rankles. Guess we'll just have to make up for that next week.

I wish I hadn't watched it, totally bad memory that I'd all but dismissed from my mind. I suppose the ref spent his brown envelope (or was it a wheelbarrow) on a lifetime supply of Keegan Perm Kits.

To be fair their conduct was superb in the first leg aided by a great ref.

Funny Thing the ref was also French.

I remember at the end of the Atletico match MON marched straight up to the ref and just gave him a look that could kill. The ref turned to him as if to say..."do you want something?"..at which point John Robertson had to hold back MON from doing something he'd regret...and proceeded to escort him back to the tunnel. Dramatic stuff.

I was in the Carling stand for this one, can remember The Birch taking the piss out of the very few Madrid fans who had travelled and then saying something along the lines of "Its alright I know I wont get in trouble for this one as none of them can understand what I'm saying anyway hey amigos" lollol

Wasn't two dubious penalties given in the first leg as well?

There was a peno what was 50/50 given in the second half.

If you ever attend one of the Q and A events what Walshy hosts, he always says their striker Kiko was a right battle.

The home leg of the madrid match was rigged plane and simple, ref was bought off. Oneil knew it, the players knew it and the fans knew it.

I remember being on the front page of the Mercury the day after that Athletico Ref as the anger lol Need to dig a copy of that out!

Love how angry O'Neill is in that interview after the match - the guy was just all-consumed by wanting success for our club. Whenever he's been linked to a return in recent years I've never wanted it as we just wouldn't get that O'Neill back.

Just watched that back and realised how bad it was. Horrid to think we were in the middle of a stitch up like that.

I was livid at the time, I still am !, those City fans looked remarkably composed as Parker made his way off though.

My main fear for next week is that we have to put up with a similar refereeing performance.

I wouldn't say it was 0/50, it was a clear dive.

I fully expect a repeat next week, you cannot trust the refs in European competition.

Watched the highlights of that game and honestly if that wasn't looked into for potential match fixing then I think serious questions need asking of the integrity of the sport.

Sadly, the need for that is long gone, and the game will slowly die as a result...

Still makes me angry. We were completely cheated that night. Muzzy should have had at least 1 penalty and Parker's red card was ridiculous. The fact that their owner Jesus Gil was a notoriously corrupt businessman adds fuel to the suspicions of Remi Harel being paid off. That video clip doesn't show the full story, I'm certain there were loads of other dodgy decisions that went against us.

Suspicions? I think everyone knew...

Remember Atletico bringing about 30 fans who were  greeted by the Kop singing .... Did you come in a taxi ?

Also remember how scarey the Red Star Belgrade fans were ... F*** you Leicester being constantly chanted at us.

I was in pen one right next to them if I remember rightly.

Yeah they were crazy, I was in the kop and barely saw the first 5 minutes (including their goal) due to the flares and smoke bombs they set off!

I was 7 for the Atletico game, and can still remember wondering what the hell was going on when Parker got sent off.

That match was a disgrace, and it still annoys me. Still, could be worse- Leeds and Derby had similar scenarios in the European Cup final/semi final. Imagine how angry that would have made them lol

Mucho San Miguel!  He said.

Still hurts thinking about that night.

i remember watching Marshall score on the big screen in one of the suites in the Carling stand.

That night vs Atheltico was very enjoyable, one of the best atmospheres for a game at Filbert St. possibly the best.
