TiffToff88 Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 The new £1 coin has been in circulation for 2 weeks today, but i'm yet to see a single one of them. I find it strange because as soon as the new fiver came out, i was seeing them straight away. I'm starting to believe its all a big lie... Anyone who has actually seen them, whats your opinion of them? are they easy to get used to?
Buce Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I was at Bradgate Park yesterday, and there was a notice on the car park pay machines apologising that they hadn't yet been converted to take the new coins, and that the Ranger at the gate had a supply of old coins to exchange for new ones. When I spoke with him, he told me that he hadn't exchanged a single coin.
sk3since03 Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I had one. Almost looks/feels plastic, very light weight Won't be long until they're a few fakes in circulation

Sounds like a bit of a challenge to the forgers to me.

VLC86 Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I work for a bank and we haven't had a single one in.
Finnegan Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I got my first and only two so far as change from the KP buying a drink.

stripeyfox Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Just now, Costock_Fox said: More surprising that they had snacks. Or at least snacks which would require a two pounds change from a note...

They are not really any different, they feel lighter, the sides are not as pronounced as the pictures make out infact they even roll quite well
Rincewind Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I am getting a few more now. But they are used quite a bit in pubs. Don't have any £1 coins ATM.
Beechey Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 As a student who works in a shop, they're getting pretty common. People are still reluctant to give them out as change and spend them though, I've noticed.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 mate showed me one on sunday night. It did seem light.
ScouseFox Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 had quite a few in me wallet. don't go in the trolleys in the Asda, don't go in the lockers at the baths, they're basically pointless. nobody uses quids as money anymore an they don't function for any of the tasks real people actually use pound coins for.
Wymsey Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Presume you can exchange the old version for the newer one?
Adster Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Brother works at a bank..I have a £20 bag full of them.

TiffToff88 Posted 11 April 2017 Author Posted 11 April 2017 Did any of you get a little bit excited when you got your first new one? I know its a little bit sad but i did when i got my first new £5 note
Benguin Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Perhaps we got them sooner in Scotland but I haven't seen a single old one in my change for the past two weeks. Had at least 25 pass through my hands.
Innovindil Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Not seen a single one yet. Honestly think it's a stitch up.
