I've never heard anyone moaning about fans singing in an away end. Why would that upset you?

 

But a square in the middle of a city isn't an away end which is the fundamental first thing football fans seem to get wrong (in my opinion) when they travel.

 

And others in here are right, that's not exclusively unique to the English.

 

But believe it or not, not everyone in the middle of Madrid (or Copenhagen, or Brugge or Seville) is there for the football, not all of them want to see a drunk swarm of blokes screaming out football chants, throwing their litter everywhere, apparently throwing the odd chair and allegedly kicking people's motorbikes.

 

I accept this is entirely about what I enjoy Vs what you enjoy and neither of us are inherently right or wrong. But it has always struck me that mass crowds of football fans never seem to give a flying **** about how they must actually seem to the locals, or even to other non football tourists, when they travel.

 

Which is, to me, somewhat ignorant.

 

Not that that necessitates the police using excessive force on people who could just be told to calm down. I do agree with that.

Was in square both days I was over there with thousands of city fans. 

German bombers was sung by 10-30 people tops? 

Flares was flash point  . Fired towards  the police . 

Left before all kicked off on 1st day as you could sense it about to happen.

No such luck yesterday. Entrances blocked to square so you was shuffled through baton wading police 

hitting everything and anyone in site.

 

Kids and cans and cocaine. Only takes one idiot ... !

Bound to happen when you take a close view of a selection of our support that travel away. 

 

You always worry who you are going to sit next too if you are with the family and it's hit and miss if you can enjoy the day out or not.

 

Singing and enjoying yourself is fine, but the following I have witnessed at away games that make you want to not bother going.

 

1. Forest away - constant racist comments towards a person by a fan. 

 

2. Coventry away - a family who couldn't string two words together sitting in our seats. Would not move, swearing at us, then the father starting bouncing wanting to fight me as I said they were in the wrong seats. 

 

3. Norwich away - the smelliest guy in the world next to you, dribbling at the mouth, couldn't sit up he was that drunk.

 

4. Burnley away - covered in beer. I mean covered. If you want to throw it over your mates fine, but have a bit of thought for families who might want to enjoy the day.

 

5. Southampton away - bloke behind us, well known goes off to do drugs in the bigs, telling us he is going to do it. My son asks what that means and what he is going to do. Not the greatest experience sitting in front of him when he comes back I can tell you. 

 

6. Newcastle away - again people sitting in your seats, refused to move as he thought it was his. Offered him a £20 bet he was in the wrong seat, but refused to take it up. His mate couldn't stand up. 

 

We we have an element of fans that can't string two words together. Singing the German bomber song (in Spain) just shows what we have. 

 

They are the first ones to bleet when they get the baton across the head.

 

Does Madrid surprise me, not one bit. It was bound to happen, you could tell a mile off when you look at the make up of our support base. Madrid would have brought them all out, it was a big day for them. 

 

Not their fault though, never is

Pretty depressing that people would rather sing about a rock that they'll never visit than their own club too.

 

Shouldn't be surprised after Sunday though. We are a bunch of oddballs overall.

We are like any other club. We have a large proportion of informative, passionate football fans. We have a smaller section of Neanderthals who never cease to amaze me when I see or hear them.

I dunno. A couple of exceptions aside, you tend to see English fans singing their own team's songs when they're abroad rather than '10 German Bombers' and stuff.

The thing is most of the 'old school' come out for the bigs games all stone island up yet when it comes to it shut themselves,I was a prominent member of the ybs when we started it up,was always us young lot Avin a row,we were game as ****,hear the young lot now are(I'm 30) and av mrs and kids and don't bother anymore,pisses me off that you get the so called old school sitting in family stand with the kids in the s.i gear,yet when push comes to shove and it's gonna kick off say 'av got me kids',that's well and fine but then don't wear the clobber to say your a lad if your a has been,most so called lads ain't even as a row,gaur enter that out of 50 lads(hate it when folk say there was 200 there today)only a dozen tops will av it,the rest **** off back to the tavern and av the cheek to say they've just 'had it'!
